Picture this:

If the Ark isn’t on earth and the forerunner artifact is maybe just a portal, than picture this scenario of the final battle for the fate of humanity, the covenant, the Arbiter, the Master Chief, the Gravemind, the Flood, Johnson, and everyone else in the galaxy:

The Ark sits alone in space, a single, half sphere with a Forerunner city jutting out of the top (kinda like Cloud City in Empire Strikes Back). All is silent in the middle of space. The camera sees only a star in the distance, with a gray splotch to the side. The camera zooms in and the Ark slowly becomes visible.
You begin to hear faint comm. chatter, something about the Chief and the Ark. Then Admiral Hood’s voice becomes clear, “All ships go to battle-stations, the Covenant are here.”
The camera pulls back again and a human cruiser flies over the camera and a squadron of Longsword’s zip past. Then the camera turns to show you the human fleet laid out over a massive area, all preparing to attack. Then you hear the Chief speaking over the comm.
“Admiral, the reinforcements have arrived.”
“What reinforcements?”
Then the Arbiter’s voice chimes over the comm. and the scene moves to a Covenant cruiser’s bridge, with the Arbiter looking at the displays.
“Admiral Hood. My elites will aid you in this fight. We have a common purpose for being here, and it is in our best interests, I assure you.”
Admiral Hood returns on the comm. “I never thought I’d hear those words. Thank-you.”
“Save the thanks until this is over.”
"Very well."
Then, Cortana, who has been reunited with the Chief adds “The Covenant fleet is coming from around the other side of the Ark sir. Permission to take control of the fleet sir?”
“Permission granted.” Hood states.
“Woo-hoo! Let’s go roast some covenant ass!” Sgt. Johnson cries.
“Hoo-rah!” reply the marines aboard the Arbiter’s vessel with Johnson, Chief, and Miranda Keyes.
The camera changes to an armory where the Chief and the remaining Spartans are prepping for the final battle. “Are you all prepped to go?” Chief asks. Fred picks up his AR and -blam!- it. “Were ready.”
The camera then reverts to show a hugely wide shot of the human’s and the Arbiter’s fleet converging against the massive Prophet’s fleet that had arrayed themselves around the Ark. There are a few tense moments where commands are issued and the fleets fly closer, than the 1st volley is fired and the battle begins.
As the fleets collide, mass-carnage ensues, and in the midst of it, the main characters (Master Chief w/ Cortana, Fred, Will, Linda, and ?Kelly?, the Arbiter, Johnson, Miranda, a squad of marines and a squad of elites) fly through the heated battle to make a stealthy infiltration on the Ark. They are then followed by Phantoms carrying the heretic Covenant (Grunts, Hunters, and more Elites) Once there, they fight they’re way to the control room through both loyal covenant species (brutes, drones, jackals) and the Forerunner Guardians (multiple types of Sentinels, including ones that walk) to get to the control room where the big red button rests. There they find an automated but sentient hologram of one of the Forerunner. Who proceeds to explain the events that led up to the original activation of the halos and the reasons for doing so. The Forerunner also explains what the Gravemind is and his role (if that hadn’t been explained already) in the history of the halos. IN other words, everything is explained at the end.
Also, in the end, 1 of 2 things could happen.
1: a couple of main characters die as they use something to destroy the Ark. The Ark is destroyed, the covenant are defeated, and an alliance between the Elites and the Humans becomes solid.
2: The Chief sacrifices himself while destroying the Ark, thereby saving the human race. The explosion then engulfs the remains of the covenant fleet while the Arbiter, Johnson, and the others escape.

So what do you think? if you wanna flame me, fine, but tell me what you think.

Interesting theory, and it seems a pluasible set of events.

The final battle will deffinantly happen on the Ark, and I agree about it not being on Earth, from the trailer it just doesn't make sense.

I would rather it be a massive battle in a slightly ruined city, Stalingrad style.
But, it will probally be aboard the ARK.

I would like the final battle to be on a huge valley with covenant on oneside and humans one the other. I remember seeing this in one of the very early screen shots.

what do you mean final battle? it's a freakin ark, not a territorial war. the halo story has always been set up as races to different objectives. the story was never "hey there's some covenant over there. let's kill them without any real purpose"

they're not gonna 'suit up' and go at it. they're just all tryin to get into the ark so they don't get obliterated if/when the system is activated.

I don't like the idea of MC taking control of the fleet of UNSC/Defected Covenant, i'm sure Fleet Admiral Hood would be more than competent. And i don't think that all the ships would just charge in at each other. Space battles between large ships are usually like Civil war battles. They just sit there and blast each other to bits, and then see who limps away alive.

But who knows, anything could happen.

that may be, but even if the Ark is a safe-haven, what if it's more like a pandora's box. i've talked about this elsewhere, but what if the Forerunner went to the Ark, activated the rings, survived because the pulse wasn't designed to hit the Ark, and went into hibernation or something. and if that were true what if they are worse enemies than the Covenant or the Flood? maber their like a doomsday species?

The final battle will be inside the Ark and above it, my theory is that the Ships you saw surrounding the structure were the covenant, the chief will make his way into the ark at the same time as the Arbiters forces arrive and engage the Covenant, the arbiter and some other elites as well as Miranda and Johnson will link up with the chief and make thier way inside. They will fight through massive waves of brutes and jackels until they reach the control room where they will find the prophet of truth with hundreds of brutes and one human who the prophet will use to activate the Ark, then a battle will take place between everyone there and what will happen probably will be the MC and Arbiter will kill everyone and the prophet and stop the Ark from being activated as remaining human forces arrive to help sweep the area of covenant cruisers. The Flood will also fit into this story somewhere but i am not sure where to put them.

"My dreams of empire for my frozen queen will come to pass."

M.C. and heretics + Arbiter's guys to fight humans frik'n gaveup and can't fight enymore.

  • 05.28.2006 10:16 AM PDT

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

as i mentioned at some point or other, the final battle should be chief and arbiters' factions (humans and covenant heretics) defending the ark from the flood who want to destroy it (which would destroy earth, a theory of mine) and from the covenant and forerunners who want to activate it

sounds like a plan

  • 05.28.2006 10:17 AM PDT

"My dreams of empire for my frozen queen will come to pass."

And to get in the ark huge space fight to destroy a crak and get in
and new tipes of sentinels

  • 05.28.2006 10:18 AM PDT

"My dreams of empire for my frozen queen will come to pass."

I think M.C. needs Cortana to help him do stuff and get into places easy.
So they should make a stop to get Cortana and along the way defeat mind grave.
THen the Ark comes in the story. Plat twist they fail and the world ends. AGAIN

that also sounds feasuble, but even though i said it was the prophets fleet, i didn't say that it was Truth's fleet, i more meant that the fleet was the kindove Covenant Loyalist fleet more like, cuz I think teh chief kills truth on the foreruner ship he's currently on. and the flood would probably fit in by being on the Ark in quarantined areas, because if they went ramapant they could destroy the activation. so they culd even be everywhere but the control room.
good theory though.
