Surely when the ark fires activating the Halos a significant area would be missed cause one of the Halos has been destroyed (installation 04) perhaps then Earth would not be eradicated and the covenant world would. Just a thought.

Good point i just assumed they would have a home world. But seeing as they are a collective perhaps not.

Yup, just over 25,000 light years wouldnt be destroyed. I say get all the humans and animals into whatever ships are left and jump for installation 4. What about plants though, will they be dead? If so the humans need a planet with atmosphere, but im sure theres one in 25000 lightyears of space. Let the covenant forfill the great journey and kill themselves if everything goes wrong, atleast humans will live.

Due to recent cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

But then we will all get eaten by the flood

the Halo's only destroys sentient life (without going into a lot of theory), they dont destroy planets, plants or anything else.

The huge gap that is left after 01 was destroy does pose a question, but its fairly redundant because if the halo's were activated chances are we wouldn't be alive to view the effects.

no plants would still live because the halos kill the floods source of food and plants wouldn't be a good choice since most arn't very big and if the flood did eat them then they would've done so in halo 1 and halo 2

This is an extremely good point... there's a pretty large gap where no Halo would reach... Possibly a plot development. They also don't really give much of you an idea where both Halos are... but i'd think either 04 or 05 would be the one set to eradicate life on and around Earth. If Cortana can blow up 05, then humans should have thier safety pretty much assured (from the Halos at least). I don't think the humans would be too concerned about going halfway across the galaxy... it seems like they play on mostly thier own turf.

Halo 04 is the only ring that we have data for pertaining to its blast radius - 25,000 lightyears. Whether or not each ring has this same radius, or each one is different, we can't say for sure. However, we are told that, when all the Halos are fired, "all sentient life with enough biomass to sustain the Flood" within 3 galactic radii will be destroyed. This means that, unless the rings do have different blast radii, and are situated in some strange manner, the rings will all have a synergistic effect when fired together, increasing the range several-fold. This means that, even with Halo 04 gone, there is a possibility that the Earth will still be subject to the Halos' weapons.

Even with 01 gone we have a 6 in 7 chance of getting owned (disregarding the synergy).

Theres no telling where the other Halos are or where the 2 known ones are, we don't know how big each blast radious is or even what and how they fire.

What are you on about? The Halos are set up in a pattern so that when activated together they will wipe all life from the universe. 343 Guilty Spark says that each ring has a blast radius of 25 000 light years. We know that they are designed to kill all life with sufficient biomass to sustain the flood and thats all we need to know.
I think that maybe humans should move to the destroyed ring, terraform the planets and create a safe haven free of the danger of being wiped from the galaxy by the forunners cursed machines.

one thing, 343 said installation 4 had a blast radius of 25,000 light years, but at the end of Halo 2 when 343 is showing you the beacon and saying all the halos are ready for remote activation, it shows you all the halos, all of which are different sizes. If installation 4 was the smallest one, then what radius would the biggest one have?
