Subject: Something i've noticed that could use clearing up

I am from Mars, that is why I wear red and was issued the MJOLNIR Powered Assault Armor/M variant helmet, was also issued the experimental version of the Camo unit, that is why i have the Recon shoulder. I excel at CQB, hence the CQC shoulder. I have trained extensively with operation of vehicles therefore the armor on my left side is more substantial and the GPS navigator. the ODST chest is because I was embedded with a unit from the 105TH for 7 SpecOP missions, I have a great respect for them

They didn't, in the game and in the books Cortana says that the structers appear to be built by what the Covenant call the Forerunners.

Again, what...the...COVENANT...call...the...Forerunners.

could please cite specific exampe please

Sure.

http://www.halopedia.org/index.php/The_Forerunner

That site is a good source, Halo Wiki, www.halopedia.org. Read the first line in the long description and analysis of the Forerunners.

LISTEN UP REALLY WELL FOLKES

The forrunners landed on earth BEFORE people, and built the Ark.
HUMANS ARE NOT THE FORRUNNERS
BUNGIE IS NOT THAT LAME TO MAKE HUMANS THE FORRUNNERS
THE FORRUNNERS WIPED THEMSELVES OUT

AND...GUILTY SPARK WOULD HAVE KNOWN IF HUMANS WERE FORRUNNERS
thanks:)

Everything you said is your own speculation. I have yet to find any proof relating to anything you just said.

and if anyone mentions that humans made the halos, died, and then re-evolved in the exact same way, they deserve to get a fuel rod in the eye.

if you read the books you know the only creatures that devolpe thier own teck in this war is humans now if we apply this knowledge to the forerunner/human theory and imprvise a little we can renew this theory wich follows

what if the forerunners were the current day covies and humans were there leaders we would design the teck (knowing were the only ones who desgin thier own teck) and pass it through the ranks what if the profets grew jelus and wanted our status as the leaders, then the flood appered humans and profets were were commaders and the rest were infantry as the battle progrossed more and more live were lost and humans jioned the infantry each race was weakend so the profets and the rest fled,
humans built the rings as there last hope then we built the ark and had to hide there and remote actavate the rings the civies were sent to the ark when the humans were all but gone they activated the rings each race exept the profets (only race not in battle) had to start anew the profets traked down every race (exept humans who they hate) and UNLEASHED them on us using our old teck

Ok, u got me... I am speculating. JUST like everyone else in this forrum. I am just saying that most likely, humans on earth did not build the ark, activate halo, destroy there own race, and then somehow repopulate earth with their own species they destroyed by activating halo in the first place. It makes more sense my way, but it is speculation. I figured u knew that...

You are quite possibly the first person I've seen on these forums too smart for their own good. Cocky s.o.b.
Granted, the word "forerunner" is a title, a description. But in the context of the game it is describing a specific race of beings. We have no -blam!- clue what their real name was, so we call them by their most distinguishing trait: the Forerunners.
They did create the Halos, they did create the ship that powered High Charity, and they left crap-loads of relics around the universe. Depending on how deep you go into the Halo storyline, you'll realize that the Forerunners ARE all the same species. That's the whole reason the Covenant are the Covenant in the first place.
The Prophets(whatever the name of their race is) discovered Forerunner artifacts, and learned about the "Great Journey" that the Forerunners took (which we now realize is the activation of the Halos). At the time the Prophets discovered all this, they were at war with the Elites (Shangheli). The info on the Forerunners led to the peace between the Prophets and the Elites and the formation of the Covenant. The Covenant's whole purpose is to discover more about the Forerunners (a specific race) and then follow the Forerunners on the "Great Journey". I'm not making this up, go read the books AND watch the DVD with the special edition Halo 2. And stop flaming people's ideas: let them enjoy the game/story whatever way they like best, no matter how wrong it is.

Yes, I agree with everything you said. Did you get some of your info from the Halo 2 Special Edition DVD?, they the Covenant tablets and the war between prophets and elites.

Damnit nevermind, for some reason I skipped over the last few sentences your wrote. My bad.

Well on the level High Charity, when Master Chief is talking to Mercy, he says "To finish what we started, and this time none of y ou shall be elft behind.". I think he was talking to Master Chief (unless himself).

Yes, of course he was talking to MC. Truth is headed to Earth to "finish what the Covenant started", the war with the Humans.

hey it'd be pretty funny to have that one prophet's words come true. the part where he tells the arbiter that he will be left behind on the "great journey". the only way that would be true is that all the covenant die (aka their great journey) and the arbiter is on the ark and he lives.

ANYWAY, i am well aware that the forerunner is a descriptive term. if you are on that same page as i am, cool. this thread was not directed at you. this thread was referring to some guy who mentioned the forerunner 'race' and people were agreeing to what he said, and the rest of the stuff he said was full of jargon he didn't seem to grasp.

Bungie, of course. There are currently 3 books that bungie themselves have licensed as canon to the halo story.

Well, I don't know about that post or what he was saying, but the part about a "forerunner race" could make sense. Think about it: they are "forerunners" by definition. As in a race of forerunners. I'm pretty sure he didn't mean that their true name was "forerunners". Trust me, you don't want to fight me on semantics.

Ya know, I made the Cutscene Library over at halo.bungie.org for a reason...instead of jumping all over the internet looking at Halopedia and Wikipedia, just watch the original cutscene there.

forerunner is nobody's term. the word forerunner could be replaced with "those who built the halos" and this 'forerunner database' just means 'their database'. the whole idea of using the term forerunner is so we have no idea who this 'their' is. i really don't see what's so hard to understand about that.

So, instead of being called a member of the human race (which is quite possible if you keep this up), would you prefer to be called "one who lives on Earth", or "one who built a stupid-ass thread". Humans assign names to things, dude. Who says we can't call them whatever we want, even if other people call it something else. You go -blam!- about the name Forerunners somewhere else, and let us enjoy the story.

-Mess With The Best Die Like The Rest-
_Having A Wepon Doesnt make You A Hero, What You Do With IT Does_

the key to all of this is Gulity Spark and the other monitors. if the forerunners made them, they put no knowlegde into them about themselves. so its all a mystery. maybe the forerunners had a subspecies or something to become humans.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

after reading all of the posts here i just wanna say one thing. how can any of you clear anything up for anyone when everything your saying is specualtion or your own interpretaions of story that could have been taken way out of context. the point i'm getting at is don't trash people for there ideas and theories (within reason mind you) since your view is and idea and theory of your own.

my personal take is that the "foreunners" (whether by name or "role") created the halo's after stumbling across a race of parsites that were otherwise unstoppable. thus the only conclusion they could come to was to destroy anything sufficient enough to sustain the flood. the halo ring was fired, the forerunners died, which is devulged in both halo (guilty spark mentions that halo had 1 actual firing) and halo 2 (guilty spark explains the true use of halo to the arbiter and tartarus). how or why the arc got to earth is up in the air. the idea of the humans being put in the arc and being protected from halo's blast is PURE speculaiton with no base whatsoever. please feel free to correct me, but include proof. not something some website said, but proof by quotation from either book or game please.

Yup yup. Except theories aren't involved here. He just doesn't like the idea of calling the Forerunners the Forerunners. He's saying that we think "Forerunners" is the actual name of their species, and that we shouldn't call them that. Using his logic though, we shouldn't call Army generals by that title, since they're humans not generals. Instead we should call them "humans that lead vast amounts of combat troops".
His logic is flawed, and he won't accept the fact that their name is the Forerunners, whether their real name or not.

The forunners just fled the scene leaving a big bomb behind them, the oracle recognise the humans as the reclaimers because its in his programming to entice the humans into setting the bomb off. Cortana and the gravemind are the lucky ones who actually know whats going on.

The forunners are long gone.
