Subject: Earth, safe from the halos?

Due to recent cutbacks, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.

Correct me if I am wrong but I have seen a lot of theories saying that the ark (or Earth as most people believe) would be safe from the halos. I have two points that should prove this wrong.

Firstly this kind of misses the piont, as the halos were made to kill all life so the flood couldn't spread. If you then save people the flood can still infect them.

Secondly a Gulilty Spark quote from the last level of halo 2 say otherwise
1 'After exhausting every strategic attempt, my creators fired the rings. They and every sentient life form within three radii of the galatic center died as planned. Would you like to see the relevant data?'

You're too right, the Ark has no protective powers whatsoever, and neither is it the entire Earth (I mean, the Forerunners like going over the top, but a whole planet to do the job a computer terminal and an antenna?).

In reply to your first point- If the Halos are activated and there is no safe place in this galaxy to hide from their destructive force then everything dies and the flood eventually starve, no-one wins. Surely it would be better to preserve at least some life, hide that life from the flood and let them starve.
As for your second point, I cant argue. Good point :)

Some people think that the ark is a safe haven from the destructive power of the halos because of biblical reference that occurs frequently throughout the first two games. People think that the ark is referring to Noah's ark which was a boat that protected Noah from a flood that engulfed the planet. I personally agree with this theory.

For your second point:
How are people still alive if the whole galaxy was wiped of sentient life? If the ark is earth and my, and some others' theory is correct, because the safe haven would have provided protection the people on the earth while it wiped out all other life.

The problem with your theory is this: where did life on earth originate if the whole galaxy was wiped of life? To me, there seems no point for them to come from another galaxy, which is the only option physically possible, correct me if I'm wrong.

Has the game or books said anything about how long ago it was when the halos were activated the frirst time? I can't remember it being said on the game but I've only read the first book. Would It be possable for us to have re-evolved since then?

You made a good piont PACKman912 Im going to have to think about this!
