Not sure if a thread like this has been made already.

Can anyone think of any downsides to adding a "like" option to the site? Not sure how difficult it would be to modify the site for it.

I've lost count at how many post's I've come across and thought "where's the like button!!!".

Anyone share this thought?

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

There have been many threads like this.

No.

Wake me, when you need me.

Yes, it's been mentioned before on Bnet, and yes no one favors the idea.

Bungie.net is a forum not a social networking site.

Well there is a save thread option, but I guess it is useless if the post you are looking for isn't on the front page.

There have been many threads about this subject.

I don't have enough time to post all my reasoning behind my answer. So my short answer right now is no. If dazarobbo isn't sleeping right now, I'm sure he'll be here soon to give his opinion about this topic. ;)

EDIT: Scratch that last statement.

Plenty of people do, actually.

halo.xbox.com includes a forum and has the equivalent of a "like" button, so there goes that argument. And bungie.net is a social network for gamers. Please stop saying that it's not.

Has the idea been discussed or tossed around at a higher level?

ITT: Cliche, stupid arguments against the idea

OT: I wouldn't really mind a Like button, but I think a Thank button would be cool.

I'm sure it has. It's up to the webteam to make the final decision. After seeing both sides of the issue, I'm sure they will lean more towards the implementation of the feature.

I can only imagine how many likes your FAQ would have...

I also love this idea on the whole.

I don't think this will ever be a feature on bungie.net. To many people would probably complain about one getting more likes than them. And so on, as well as, it would be sort-of like Facebook. If somebody likes the thread they can save it.

Oh no, busted. Yeah you're right I have no argument on the subject. All in all I feel pretty apathetic towards the idea, I just felt like popping in and saying what most people are thinking around here.

It's been discussed many times in this forum. I would enjoy a "like" button or something equivalent to it.

Yes Costco. I need a 50lb bag...I mean sack of sugar.

The biggest problem I think that would come from it is an increase in snarky remarks just for the likes. Also might turn everything into a popularity contest.

Completely false. Plenty of people are in favor of it.

And what does the fact that it's not a social network have to do with anything at all? How about you come up with a valid argument against it instead of just saying the same old stale statement that makes no more sense now than when the first unimaginative person thought it up when this discussion began on here.

"Like"ing would only affect Bungie.net in one way definitively and on a large-scale:

It would cut back on "QFT"s and "This"s and quote-posting. All of which contribute ABSOLUTELY nothing to any sort of conversation (at least not more than a "like" would contribute, and now it doesn't bump a thread just to say something that's already been said or clutter up the page with uselessness.

Other than people being afraid of any sort of feature taken, borrowed, or modeled after something that was once on or originated on a social network (mainly Facebook), there's no real reason to not have this feature.

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Except that it discourages critical thought and further expanding upon beliefs/opinions. I believe it's a much better idea to learn and discuss why people like an idea as opposed to giving them an idiotic little pleasure button to signal their accord; something which requires the bare modicum of thought or input and which ultimately doesn't convey anything.

But by all means, let's dumb it down some more.
