Is it possible that the mark IV had a slight design flaw, and 2 certain areas of the suit cant survive going inot that atmosphere. now 1st off let me get one thing straight

when he went on En-Amber Clad after the Cairo Jump, he got there before the intense atmosphere.

No what if the area the chief is in on the forrunner ship dosent protect him as well from the burning entry into the atmosphere as other parts of the ship, its possible that the flaws a talked about were the gloves and the plate over his boots would not survive a bruning entry into the Atmosphere, and when he arrived back on earth, he recived either Mark IV Redon gloves and boot plates, or Mark VII gloves and boot plates.

Thats My Theory, Comments?

Interesting, but it seems a bit complicated just to explain the difference in gloves and boots.

The goloves have had a large change, style and only 4 holes remain, and it looks way better.

Boots have a rather small change, 5 bumbs to 4 bumps.

Saboteur.

You could speculate that his armor is different, because during the storyline of halo 3, he meets with an armory of some sort, and gets minor upgrades. It is very possible.

PS: You spelt "Assault Rifle" wrong in your signature. I'd go fix it, don't want people to think your illiterate.

If you look at his armor in the trailer, it has visibly taken some damage. I'd assume it's still his Halo 2 armor (can't remember which version of the armor he's wearing... Mark VI?)

The only way to counter this statement is saying he was upgraded and battered that one up, too.

Halo's a hell of a drug.

IGN has a good video with explanations on why there may be suit differences including why the suit is more gold than green. Check it.

Here's the real question: Does it even matter? Maybe the guys at bungie just felt like giving him a wardrobe change. There doesn't need to be some big elaborate theory to explain just why his boots are different.

The suit he wears in Halo is a Mark V. In halo 2 it's a Mark VI. I think this is probably just an upgrade on the Mark VI or a new suit of the same model to replace the old one.

personally, I don't know what to think -- is it an upgrade or just greater detail?

If you look at the MC wallpaper availble, there are lots of subtle differences compared tot he Halo 2 suit. Here's a list of what I found on the wallpaper:
* the bottom of the hood found over the visor has a design
* the strapson his shoulders connecting the back tot he chest plate are different as well as the depression in between the breast plates
* there is a new detail on the plate protecting the side of his biceps; his forearms are a bit different, too
* there is more definition on his thigh plates

this is all from the wallpaper alone; imagine what else may have changed. Again, is it an upgraded suit or just the addition of greater detail?

Even though I want to say: "Look do you want them to take advantage of the better graphics or not?" It does seem unlikely that Bungie would miss the chance to introduce the Mjolnir Mark VII for the simple reason to have more things with 7 on them.

I'm blue da ba di da ba dai!

In halo 2 it said he hade his old suit was destroyed or something, so maybe part of his suit got destroyed or his suit does not enter atmospher whitout gettint damaged.
