This is from Mail Sack 10..
There are ebbs and flows in the tempo for building a game. Some weeks, giving structure to the raw space is even and steady. Other weeks, we spend more hours atop our cranes than any real-world safety regulation would ever allow. Developers call this Crunch. At Bungie, we don't reserve those precious moments for just the very end of our process.
I'm not "hip to the square" with developer phases and whatnot. From what I've gathered, "crunch" seems to come closer to the "end". Does this mean that Bungie is nearing the end of a certain phase/process, or am I just not understanding this paragraph very well?I assume they are in a crunch to hit some sort of internal milestone.Yeah, this. As I understand it (which, admittedly, is not very well), they go into "crunch" to meet various deadlines for internal release candidates and such. Doesn't mean necessarily that they are nearing a final product.
