Subject: Why buy Halo 3????

Saboteur.

1) Battle rifle does not suck, it is more powerful then the assault rifle, so you just have learn to use it. The battle rifle has it flaws, but all game sequels need to change in some way, for instance changing up the weapons.
2) You can easily counter that combo, and if your so pissed, then use it yourself, problem solved. Or are you scared that you'll suck at it.
3) I believe we played as an elite in halo 2, and it just added more depth to the plotline, and a deeper look in the covenant's beliefs.
4) Cliffhangers lead to new games, or new additions to the storyline, and to the majority of ppl who play halo 2, thought it did raise alot of anticipation. And since when is 50 bucks alot for some1 who has the money to buy a computer and post idiotically on these forums, and an xbox to play halo 2.
5) Bungie can't always help you, there are about a million people logged on to halo 2, and when did you believe it was possible for them to help you individually, because you cant take a few words.

Grow up, get your facts straight, and next time try to raise a reasonable argument.

Lee Harvey Oswald, shooting from the top floor of
the Book Depository was able to take 3 shots from
an old Italian bolt action rifle. From a distance of over
258 feet and shooting at a moving target he was able
to score 2 hits including a headshot. Now does
anybody know where he learned to shoot like this?

You do realize that the M4A1 Carbine (not assault rifle). Is a magazine fed, gas operated, locking bolt, fully automatic weapon? The M16A2/A4 fire in Semi, and 3 round burst. The M4A1 Carbine, does not. It fires in Semi, and FULL auto.

EDIT: And the BR performs nothing like it besides it shooting bullets.

As for why the battle rifle sucks, I don't think hes implying that it is weak and worthless. I think he's pointing to the fact that it is over powered, impossible to miss your target, and in conjunction with any other weapon that can take down shields in one shot (PP, or Sniper rifles) it is down right lame. Not to mention with certain weapon glitches (RRX anyone?) It becomes even more powerfull and lame. What would have been best would have been a scoped AR with 2x magnification, a slightly tighter grouping than that of the original, and more powerfull than an SMG. Thus a guy dualing SMGs has a chance in a fight with the guy that has an AR and vice versa. I feel another problem about the BR as people have pointed out is THAT IT IS realistic (except for having a perfect grouping). I can easily see a present day military using that weapon. This is Halo, it's set in the future, the weapons should look it. Same with the Magnum, it look's a hell of alot like a Walther/Glock hybrid, not very futuristic at all.

I agree about the BR being the most powerful gun on Halo because once u get used to shooting people in the head u tend to shoot faster and faster until the tip of your finger is at the trigger.
I say this because Im a legit 27 in Team Slayer but Im skilled against a LVL 33.

I've been a huge fan of the Halo series...well, up until I suffered through the Arbiter levels in the last game, sat through the game's "ending," and then moved on to XBL, only to be tormented by pre-teen gamesters who love to launch vicious invectives while openly cheating with modified software.

My point is this: I, for one, am going to need a LOT of convincing before I buy an X-Box 360 for Bungie's latest venture. Here are a list of things that will convince me NOT to buy this game.

1). Battle Rifle (in general). It sucks. Give me the assault rifle or the pistol.
2). Battle Rifle Combo. (Self-explanatory).
3). Playing the game as an elite, grunt, jackal, or whatever. Chief is more fun.
4). A cliff-hanger ending designed to make gamers salivate in anticipation of forking over another fifty bucks three years down the line for another cliff-hanger. Give me a definitive ending. It doesn't have to end the series, but it has to mean something.
5). X-Box Live modders who cheat and then shriek obscenities at me with no repercussion from Bungie.

Well first off, I don't know why people think that the battle rifle sucks... I mean it is one of the more balanced guns in either Halo games, and in my opinion it was the most realistic gun that they put in the game.

There's no arguing against the BR combo, it's the -blam!-est thing since Richard Simmons.

The playing as a different character wasn't anything spectacular, and I don't care either way really, but I didn't like playing the last level of the game as the Arbiter.

The ending was bad, we know it, bungie knows it, everyone knows it... it won't happen again, why because Microsoft is giving Bungie more time for this one, plus it is the last in the series and Bungie wouldn't do that twice.

Now the modders are relatively new to the Halo on Live world, I played for the first year without encountering a modder and the worst deal was the rampant standbying, but for the most part it wasn't a huge part of the game. You have to realize that Bungie was breaking new ground into X-box live and did a hellavu job in countering the cheating as it appeared. No other game had the X-box live following that Halo 2 created and Bungie got the heat for cheaters taking advantage of a realitively new system (Live). Of course now that they have dealt with cheaters for about a year and a half, Bungie knows a great deal more about how they do it and can implement better tools into Halo 3 to hopefully render cheating so difficult that no one would want to got through with it.

So, you have to realize, Bungie takes pride in what they put out the door, and the Halo 2 "disapointment" was largely because Microsoft wanted it out (and I would bet anything expected a launch title for the 360), and Bungie got caught in the middle, but still did a great job of getting us a very fun and playable game. I mean imagine if Bungie got one more level onto Halo 2 that gave us a little more closure, and was similar to the excitement of Halo: CE's Maw? I mean how many people would have changed sides to saying that Halo 2 was a fantastic game? It's all part of the gaming business. After all the "ranting" about Halo 2's campaign, I really doubt that Halo 3 will have a cliffhanger ending (especially since it's the last in a trilogy) and Bungie will probably deliver something spectacular.

1) Halo 2 online is one of the coolest games ever, the BR works fine on it, you don't have to be a pansy about the people who use BR and the noob combo.

2) The Arbiter's levels are fine. There is no gameplay difference. You're just whining because you couldn't get used to not shooting at Covenant. And it got too confusing for you when the Covenant split up and you had to kill Brutes, Jackals etc. and not Elites, Hunters, etc. Besides, in multiplayer, just don;t play as the Elite, woah, that was hard, wasn't it?

3) I barely run into modders, standbyers, etc. at all anymore. And you know what I do to superjumpers? I kill them, yes, it's really that simple.

4) For god's sake get off of Bungie's case about Halo 2's ending. It's all Microsoft's fault for making Bungie rush the project. Go blame Microsoft and give Bungie a break.

Amazing!

Wow you're a moron.

1. The Battle Rifle is more balanced than the Pistol. A gun that kills in three headshot is not balanced and it would be a Pistol-fest on XBL if it were there instead of a Battle Rifle.

2. So nobody would use a Plasma Pistol and Pistol on Halo 1 if it were on XBL? Nice logic.

3. You can choose to play as the Elite or Spartan. You act as if you are forced.

4. Halo 1 basically had a cliff hanger too.

5. There's going to be people who try to cheat, some may be successful, others not, in every time game. It's natural, though, unfortunate, and you can't do anything about it except whine some more.

Signatures are for little kids.

Halo 3 isn't the only reason to buy a 360. It's a well designed gaming machine. Live Arcade rocks! Long live geometry wars! Also, a Wolfenstein game is being made for the 360, and for those of you that never played it, it was the best x-box FPS till Halo 2 came out. In the elimination mode in Wolfenstein you had to kill the person and than DESTROY THEIR BODY so the other teams medics couldn't come along and revive them. Blowing up someones body with a grenade was one of the most hardcore elements in any game ever. Period.

Just my personal opinion, if bungie had some way of making the homing ability of the Halo 2 PP a liiiittle less OBSCENE, I'd have no problem whatsoever. Other than that, it is a great multiplayer game, and the only other thing that ever keeps me from enjoying it are the people with absolutely no sportsmanship.

The first post here is funny.

1. I would actually compare the battle rifle more to the MP5 that Navy SEALS use as their primary weapon. 3 shot bursts, suitable for short to midrange but accurate enough over longer distances...

2. In regards to the battle rifle + PP combo (derisively called the "noob combo") I think Billy Tubbs* said it best: "If you don't like it, get better."

* For those that don't know, Billy Tubbs was basketball coach at the University of Oklahoma in the 1980s. His teams were notoriously offense-oriented. People were complaining about "running up the score" and his response was along the lines of "It's our job to score points - attempting to control the score of a game is illegal. If they don't like it, they need to get better."

edit: Wait... I think I see what you are getting at. My point was however, that the effectiveness of homing in Halo vs. Halo 2 was not near as... *persistant, I guess is the word I'm looking for. The *range at which you could lock onto another player was not what was in question.
