Cut off support for Halo 3 to discourage players from playing it and encourage more people to either play Halo: Reach or Halo 4.
What they don't realize is that with Reach, they lost a lot of their diehard Halo fans and gained a few casuals, but if they decrease Halo functionality, those newly gained casuals will only switch to a different game.
343 has killed Halo. Unless H4 is a masterpiece that appeals to casuals and competetive players alike (like Halo 3/2 did), Halo is a dead game.
Basically this.
The only people that I know that play Reach are my tryhard friends. I call them tryhard because they think Reach takes skill and they think they are good at it.... this is due to them being aweful at Halo 3.
I don't talk to them anymore because I Hate on Reach all the time and they are lolreach fanboys..... which is ironic because Im the Halo lover.
The rest of my friends only play Halo 3..... basically the good people.
I know exactly what you mean, however, this is not the first time this happened. I agree people who play Halo: Reach are typically noobs and would suck at Halo 3. However, as a Halo fan that's been with the series from the beginning, this happens everytime a new Halo game comes out. People who stayed in Halo 2 considered people that played Halo 3 to be noobs. And people who were die hard veterans of Halo 1 considered Halo 2 players to be noobs. It's basically a cycle.
However, with Halo: Reach, never has the more veteran Halo community been so united against the newest game. My guess and my personal opinion is that Halo 3 has now become the legacy of the original Halo series and Halo: Reach basically threw out everything that made Halo, Halo and tried to make Halo: Reach more realistic and CoD-like.
People are worried that 343 will continue Halo 4 in the direction Bungie was going with Halo: Reach meaning Halo 3 will really become the last remaining legacy of the game the series that defined a decade and a generation. Long live Halo 3.
