Halo 1 > Halo 2
PC > Xbox

So that means Halo PC freakin pwns.
Its basic logic, even an xboxer could understand it (mmmm, maybe thats asking a little too much)

You want to know why.
Because in the maw we are civilized people.
We use proper grammer.
Just because you can understand it doesn't mean it's easy to read.
If it is properly written with cap. and punct. then it's easier to read, and takes less time to try to figure out.

Because, people who use PC's should, by nature, be fairly intelligent. And by using -blam!- grammar and spelling, you're not really showing that off, now are you?

Compare this forum with New Mombasa, that's why grammer is important.

Squee is right... this isn't a chat room, so what's the point of short hand? You actually have time to think before you reply, or at least it's a very good idea. It's my personal opinion that people should at least make some sort of effort if they're pleading for help. If I can understand you and you try your best, than it's easier to help you. But if I have to spend an hour rereading your post/message over and over because you think it's great to talk in “leet” speak, than you aren't worth the time. Show you have a brain or some congealed goo between your ears... it's not there just to be stabbed at by qtips.

Yeah, of course, even in chatrooms, you should use it to a degree. It's not that hard to backspace a couple times. But, obviously, on games like Counter-Strike, I wouldn't be talking like this, "i'd be talking more like this". But it's not enough of a difference for you to bother NOT using it on here.

The advantage of using fullhand writing with full grammar and punctuation and spelling - it helps formulate your thoughts clearer so that you have something intelligent to add. While it may be faster to write in shorthand and without caps, the extra effort also makes your text more structured and can clarify some points, as well as the fact that it makes your post seem more intelligent than someone who doesn't put in the minor effort to add these things. Also, if you're going to make a post, why NOT add the extra bit of grammar etc?

And IceCreamMan3: Your torture of the english language knows know bounds. You make baby Shakespear cry.

It just gets really annoying when people cant type in full sentences, or don't know how to use a comma.

ex...
The maw is a fun place to talk to people who play halo because they like the game that i like to play because I think halo is fun it is such a good game although there are other good games that i play. too bad i dont know how to use commas because this is becoming very long and confusing congradulations if you can understand this because alot of people type like this so it actually might be useful to be able to read bad grammar because they dont know how to use it correctly.

I don't really care, I'm a fast typer, I have good grammar, maybe if I wasn't a fast typer I would of used words like ur, im, etc. I am just able to type fast and have little errors, whatever ones I have, I can fix in <1 second.

Once in a while I forget to capitalize, but otherwise I use good grammar. If I see someone in these forums typing poorly, my first impression is that they are not intelligent, and I am less likely to help. If you take the time to type properly, especially those people who just put "HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP MEEEEEEE" then I will take the time to actually read what you have to say, and try to help. It's a pain in the ass when I have to try and decipher what you type. I understand if someone has a few grammatical errors, but there is no excuse for having no punctuation, no capitalization (or typing with caps lock), misspelling all your words, and using shorthand.

-S

First: This has nothing to do with Halo PC or Halo 2 Vista and will be locked, thusly.

Second, you could, in theory, punch yourself in the face while talking to people. Why would you, though?

Similarly, you can make yourself look like an idiot by stumbling over your keyboard rather than being legible and clear by paying attention to what you're supposed to be learning in English. A little literacy goes a long way. A lot of illiteracy makes you look like an internet-moron stereotype. Think about that while you argue for the butchering of a language much older than yourself.

ok why does everyone care so much about grammar on an online forum? this doesnt seem like it would make that much of a difference as long as u can read and understand it, capital letters and puncuation dont seem important as long as ppl (they're gonna yell at me for that one...) can understand it

now if someoe just slams something down and u honestly cannot read it, then theres a problem, but unless that occurs, i dont see much of a reason to make a big deal about it

ps to any mean ninjas that love locking my threads- this would not be relevant in the flood, bc we see it here, and for the most part, only here, and before u lock this, pls think of the children
