Oh, I have another idea. Me and my friends thought this up a while back. We, being WW2 enthusiats (but not the obsessive type that are just creepy) thought that a WW2 MMORPG would be kool. You could join a side (axis or allies) and be admitted into squads automatically. You would be placed on the Eastern Front and would have to get to know and cooperate with your teammates (the other players) you were assigned with. Your division could either be a tank division, airforce division, or a ground division. Now, you'll be fighting over an enormous map of Europe against other players on the opposing side. In times before or after a battle you could prepare for a fight by cleaning your gun (which could somehow acutally affect the firing mechanism if you keep it in good shape), talking with your squadmates, or just lighting up and having a cigarette. And it's just not you and your squad alone in the fight; there would be divisions ALL OVER Europe in the game, defending or attacking different positions (that's including both axis and allies). The whole "living" aspect would be huge. You could do anything the guys in Europe could do in 1941-1945. As you fight across Europe, the map changes in accordance to who owns what territory at the moment. Across Europe would be different cities and fields to fight in and there would be certain "objectives" in a certain place (like artillery guns) that you would want to protect from the enemy taking over and using it against your forces. When you die, you would resurrect back into your platoon but only after you were brought back to the nearest medical facility by a teammate(s). This could be done by foot, ground vehicle, or air plane. When you get to the med facility, you automatically heal and head back into the battle for Europe.
Phew, I'm done. It's long, but I still like the idea of playing as the greatest generation.
