Subject: I want to voice disapproval of Bungie's new smarmy...ness

I think it was the Shishka posts in the Optimatch forum that gave it that feel.

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

Yeah OP. I also have the sudden urge to dump Bungie's books and give them a deep and wet swirly.

I'd like to read a book with you, if you know what I mean...

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

It has been a long time since we have played a game of Shadenfreude. Not that I'm volunteering...

Ask me a question, and I will most likely respond back with false and illogical information not pertaining to said question.

Maybe we need Shishka back...

I shouldn't have said that. I'm going now.

You imply a level of control over Halo: Reach matchmaking that we no longer have. Or, in your vernacular, it isn't our shiznit anymore.

I'd have to agree that his writing style and humor was different from DeeJ. But I enjoy reading DeeJ's subtle sarcasm more than Urk's "edgy and disrespectful" content.

I think they should start doing that and appending all "breaking in" posts with photo evidence. Then the posts start with those sicky smiles of young men and end with a toilet scene.

Edit: Occasionally I have subject verb disagreements

Since when did Bungie go from being edgy and disrespectful to dorky and smiley? Take a look at 95% of the photos from recent events to breaking in articles and some of you (who have been around a while) will see what I mean. There's always been a little bit of a nerdcore element to Bungie, but it was calmly and respectfully errant, never an insincere-dopey-clueless high school grad cheesiness.

Am I way off base or does their image seem to be changing?

Edit: I'm not talking about the Bronies ride-along.

BUNGiE grew up from the scrappy teenager to the goofy college grad. It is all a part of reaching new boundaries to become more...than a feeling.

Your question interested me, so I pinged the internets.

Upon googling your entire post and looking at the first page of images, the things that stood out:

A horse
Beautiful children
Sarah Palin
Ron Paul
Obama
McCain (facepalming)
Halo 4
A Rhino Butt

In response, yes, I think it's a bad thing to a certain extent.

I was a victim of a series of accidents, as are we all.

The majority of people OTF now are on average about 12-17, it's brought a childish kind of state to Bungie.net.

I blame DeeJ, today Stosh may rest

According to Alexa they're actually 18-24 year old males who browse from home with no college education and no children.

Wait...or were you calling me childish?

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

It's easy for them to be hopeful since they already know everyone's Destiny. But no, it's not a bad thing.

If I am not posting, then I am reading what you might have posted.

I do not see why this matters, everything tends to change, we just need to get use to it.

I don't think that many of the more recent additions to our ranks would understand, appreciate or tolerate traditional Bungie "rough-housing" online.

Just take a look at the old letters to the Webmaster. There is no WAY that Bungie could/would publicly reply to and humiliate their current customers in that fashion. Back in those days, people could spot and accept the context and subtle love in those replies. But in a post Paul Christoforo "i wwebsite as on the internet" world? Just not possible.

Feel free to send me messages, please be willing to wait 6-8 years for a reply.

1-7 hours if you at least tried to make it readable.

Immediately if you are Yax, Telec, or legendary.

Never if you are mythic, you guys smell funny.

Im sure one day i will be able to come in here and take Deej's lunch money without much of a fight.

Wonder who the next closest guy is to Shishka in terms of pwning forum goers... Looking at some of the old Atlas threads is GREAT.

Watchu talkin 'bout, Willis?

OT: Yeah... it's been a bit boring lately. I think its because of them going dark, and not having anything to be able to collect new members. Personally, I think it should be US Law to have at least one Septagon Billboard on every major highway. Also, Bungie hasn't been making fun of us, like a user above me stated, becasuse some(most) people are too sensitive.

They're so mainstream now...

I'm sorry I just can't take you seriously with those Urkel glasses.

That being said I agree with you. The less mainstream usually means more original, and that's all I ask.

It's just that Deej is still new and innocent. Gradually, sitting next to Urk will warp and twist his mind until his posts drip with snark and condescension. Pity him...
