Subject: First thread. What's this place all about?

Hi Community!

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a tad bit new here. I've been a lurker for awhile, and finally uped and got an account. But that's enough about me. I'm interested in you. The community.

What's new here, and what should I be sure to do, and not do? Are there any inside jokes I should be aware of?

  • 03.29.2012 7:57 PM PDT

Ask me a question, and I will most likely respond back with false and illogical information not pertaining to said question.

Well, Halo stats are finally being given away (or something like this, don't have the details), people are still remembering their fond days of being with Bungie, and I want a sandwich.

Too many inside jokes to name, and to be honest, right about now, private groups are your best bet to get to know the community until Bungie starts shedding some light on their new IP.

Also, stick to the rules, play nice, and be friends with the mods, or forum ninjas as they are called, so they can reward you a cupcake.

I'm in Coup d' Bungie, but what else is there?

I'm part of a small group called Samich, maybe that's a start.

EDIT: I've PM'd you a link if you're interested.

Ah...I remember my first thread. Welcome :) we are an awesome community of badasses. Be sure to post threads, post replies, join private groups, post in those and be sure not to post things that go against the rules. Oh and read the rules. This will help you not to be banned or blacklisted :) Also, if anything goes wrong on the website always send Stosh a personal message and ask him why he did that to you.

Key

You'll learn most of the inside jokes and and the context that they're used in within 1-3 months. It's just something you learn overtime.

Not to bash any other forums, but if you're trying to get started, stay in the Community Forum for a while. It's the best place to get accustomed to the site etc. plus you are more likely to converse with Employees and Ninjas who are more likely to help you out and provide a good example of how you should post (most of the time...) than those in other forums.

Overall, my advice would be:

1. Use proper grammar.
2. Don't make a million threads a day.
3. Don't make a million posts a day.
4. I heard groups are a good way to get started.
5. Have fun.

urk: "This is a bad idea."
DeeJ: "Hold still..."

Whatever you do...never listen to people with blue bars...it means they are very very bad people....who hate puppies.

You've been warned.

If you're new, it's best not to go to the Flood, unless you truly desire it. Not saying anything is wrong with that forum, but you'll be treated with much more kindness here.

Feel free to look around though.

Members here dont get banned.

They just go missing in action.

Um, it's realy a learn as you go process but if you're new you should read over the forum rules. Just so that Foman doesn't unleash his rage on you. As for jokes you may use this for reference.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

Please stop complaining about the 'death of a loved one' it's my job. They probably deserved it anyways. Here's a warning, if you keep making pentagrams out of the neighbors livestock I will personally come to your house and kill everyone you love. Now leave me alone, I got to get back to work.

There are honestly too many inside jokes to name. If you really wanna fit in get used to memes.

Welcome, Goulbar! All I have to say is enjoy your stay.

cars, girls & cake all day everyday

Try not to let anyone try to tell you how to act. Be yourself, and enjoy the quality things the community has to offer.

And don't trip about what others say about post count; you can post as much as you want. (I don't think I need to go into what forums are for...) As long as your posts stay solid and honest, and you believe your thread topics will encourage interesting discussion.
