Subject: does armor in halo reach have any effect on gameplay???

The reason I am bringing this topic up is because i heard a rumor about the EVA helmet effecting head shots and so i tried it and got a ton of head shots and the recon helmet (base) apperently mutes your breath when running. soooo?

None.

Religion is stupid. Halo is amazing.

Well, techincally yes, but it's not a huge difference. The EVA helmet might be more visible than others etc..and having different colours on your armor for free for all could also SLIGHTLY effect gameplay and the odds for visibility.

Shoryuken!

Mythic Mode Progress on Reach:
Winter Contingency, perfection.
Other levels in progress.

In H3 it did. In Reach, it's the same hit box as any other armor piece.

nope

Other than the fact that your character model looks different, no, it has no effect on gameplay.

"Set a man on fire he will be warm for the rest of his life"

It gives some people an ego boost.

But really nothing, this might change in Halo 4

It seemed to have more of an effect in Halo 3. Fishbowl helmets stuck out like a sore thumb and were just plain old easier to aim at.

There are no inherent bonuses from any of the armor but occasionally the aesthetics can be useful.

Nope. I've shot guys with the sniper, wondered why it didn't connect, looked back on Theater and its gone through their security shoulder, but not the flesh.

No, your bad. Even if it did have an effect, why would it be bad?

Everyone is entitled to their own wrong opinion.

I'm part of the Bungie.net Minecraft group/server called SeptaCrafters
We're a Bungie.net group that goes to our very own Bungie server. Most players are from the Halo community either off Bungie itself or through word to Halo friends.

Yes it does but only in making you more/less visible.

Armor effects can give you away.
And that one helmet that looks like a fish bowl, its easier to get headshots on Spartans with that (for me anyway)
And color of course in Rumblepit

Hit boxes are the same, anything that seems different is either lag or psychological.

The haunted helmet puts an exclamation point over the inheritors head making him an easy target. He also has half shield.

Placebo effect is probobly why you got the headshots.

  • 03.30.2012 2:44 PM PDT

actually

despite any stupid probability assumptions like it gives you magic powers...or + 1 health...it does effect gameplay

in reality if you have armor helmet effects like fire, thunder, the bug thing, your'e head is more likely to be spotted and possibly easier (of course only in games such as; team snipers, swat, or slayer dmrs , etc)

your brain may feel this is an easier target to shoot(thinks of bigger), or a more complicated (thinks the face is hidden), therefore effecting your gameplay and how you move your thumbstick/cursor or ego/confidence in killing the other guy

i believe this is a probable effect that armor may have, but only against the player equipping the armor so idk.
