Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Thank you bungie for making a great series. It sucks the stats will stop updating, but it's understandable.

I enjoyed every single game and while we (the fans) found flaws in every game, the whole series collectively, and individually, changed the way we play FPS for the better. COD and other FPS can thank Bungie and Halo for paving the way.

Thank you for the memories from a loyal fan,

See you starside.

This OP just kills me over on Waypoint.

A -blam!- Halo player acting like he's knowledgable enough about this game to have an opinion someone should listen to.

Which is probably akin to NASA listening to pygmies on how to build their next lunar vehicle.

LOL, and what do you know .... 343 removes bleedthrough, Squad Slayer, and literally leaves us worse off since before the TU ever became.

I'm terrified for H4. Thanks to the introduction of AAs, Reach flopped hard, couldn't even hold a portion of H3's populace as a result. H4 may actually be worse. And then we may not even see an H5.
Let me guess, you were 12 years old when CE was released and I was grinding away with friends on system link games all night. You are going to tell me all about what Halo is, was and should be, *sigh* sometimes I wonder if Bungie is aware of the arrogance displayed on this site by people, no matter, I would feel bad, but my self worth is not based on other peoples opinions.

As one of the few that was old enough to play host because I had my own place, I was around 20 when pooping on kids in CE via LAN parties that I put together.

And please, spare me the bull-blam!- lines.

About the only thing this game has going for it is MLG, where players can actually move, retarded -blam!- like AL/JP/Evade are pick ups at best, and bloom (aka, that -blam!- that gives retards like yourself, who can't aim for beans, an actual chance to win a DMR battle) is non-existent.

As MLG shifted settings, the whole of this game should have. Maybe then it'd be able to compete with past Halo titles as far as players online went.

Speaking of which, why should I have to tell you what Halo should be, when the lack of players that participate in this mess says it all?

It's hilarious that you think AA's are good for Halo when in fact they are the main reason a fraction of the people that used to play Halo, even bother with this game.

For someone who is approximately thirty, you seem to have an oddly juvenile perspective of market trends and what Halo has going for it, MLG could disappear tomorrow and most players would not notice the drop in population.

Reach has maintained a position on the top ten most played games on one of the best selling consoles in the world coming up on two years after release, not to shabby.

While you think I am out of my mind for enjoying AA, I should remind you, Bungie thought it was a pretty good idea too, so I find myself in good company.

If by now, at thirty, you dont understand the dynamics that made the previous two titles as populated as they were, it would be a waste of my time to try and explain, even confronted with solid logic, I doubt you have the capacity to believe other then what you have heard regurgitated on this site.

On this the final day of Bungies involvement with Halo, I came to give thanks on their site and if you read through this thread, frankly a lot of "fans" should be ashamed, and you should count yourself among them.

Good day sir.

I will make my exit now, but before I go, I cant thank you enough Bungie, from beginning to end you have provided me with so many good time, there is not enough time for me to thank you as you deserve.

Ohai, I'm Loscocco (pronounced Loss-cocoa). I'm a college student (computer science major), 3D animator, and long-time Halo player.

I'm not here to argue about you, as a person, or the tons of posts that you have made that I wholeheartedly disagree with, like most of this thread has, but to point out what is completely wrong with most of the posts that you have made in this thread or in threads today. I'll start with your original Arena Jetpack thread before I analyze the last post.

Competitive and casual players can both play the same game in harmony; competitive players just ask for game mechanics that are actually justified, put players on par with each other, and let the best man be rewarded. Casual players just ask for a good time and are more malleable/easy going. It shouldn't be so difficult to please both, yet the mess that Reach has become is a result of both communities butting heads with each other and you get the ignorant, obnoxious voice on both communities acting like they should be in charge of EVERYTHING. You get casuals telling Bungie how the competitive game mechanics should play out (even though they have NO experience/understanding with them) and you have the competitive players telling Bungie to scrap everything that isn't important to them.

When this happens, you get this hybrid-abortion that Reach became that only can satisfy one group at a time and now 343 is shuffling back and forth trying to please everyone by making drastic changes to the game every month, catering to one group or the other, despite the fact that is is slowly killing off everything in the competitive community.

In your case, I hardly see why you think you are justified to tell 343 how Arena should be run when only 6 out of 7500 of your games were in Arena and have hardly played a single competitive gametype in all of your time on Reach. Personally, it seems to me, from an outsiders opinion, that your only motives for half of your arguments are so you can watch the competitive crowd beg. In short, you are the March Update to the competitive community.

Halo has going for it, MLG could disappear tomorrow and most players would not notice the drop in population.

Your first problem: you constantly try to mock competitive players here about how they make claims about how the population would have been if Reach had gone differently and you back it up with how Reach is now.

You try to say "Reach is fine. Notice how the competitive playlists are unpopular despite the demand for them," but never consider the fact that the Halo franchise went from being the #1 and #2 game on all of Xbox LIVE (the 3 year old game constantly combating the new MW2) to the bottom of the top 10 list in less than a week and it just so happened to be the first week of Reach. Maybe Reach killed off a HUGE portion of the competitive Halo community and the 2 year old game simply contains what is left, aka the players that have some hope.

You have a huge habit of making explanations for Halo controversy using experiments/observations based on groups that are subject to an INCREDIBLE amount of variables and thus make conclusions (which you then press off as fact in debates) based on everything that you overlooked.

Reach has maintained a position on the top ten most played games on one of the best selling consoles in the world coming up on two years after release, not to shabby.

For a game, that's pretty good. For a Halo game, aka a top seller with what was once, unquestionably, the biggest playerbase, that is terrible. A game had the biggest playerbase and lost in in a split second; that isn't just a coincidence.

While you think I am out of my mind for enjoying AA, I should remind you, Bungie thought it was a pretty good idea too, so I find myself in good company.

That doesn't mean much. Bungie does the coding, yet is reliant on the community to provide feedback and guidance. All game companies think that their game implements good ideas, but only a few get labeled as a success.

Good day sir.

That's just stubborn; giving your argument and then just announcing your leave before someone provides their response. Pretty rude, too. You might as well have just said at the end of your entire argument, "I really have zero interest in anything that spews out your mouth because you are not worth listening to. I don't even care if it potentially proves me wrong in every way."

Don't piss me off... Random things burst into song when that happens!

Looking through this topic, I'm wondering how many true fans there are. Here we are, on the eve of the end of Bnet stat tracking, where almost every bit of rank or successive win bragging rights will soon be gone forever, and a fair few of you are complaining about the TU and how Plunder seems to have changed. I say it doesn't matter. People can change, and games adapt and experiment with new audiences. I, however, ignore this. Why? Because I know why I'm here. I am here to pay respects to Bungie, who, up until Reach, did not see any real complaints from fans. So Bungie, keep doing whatever it is you do that makes your games so amazing, innovative, and successful. I look forward to everything you put on the market from here on out. As for the rest of you, as said by the greatest group of individuals (in my opinion) in this modern age, I'll see you starside.

This mess hardly even warrants a response. Most of the idiocy speaks for itself.

The dynamics of why Reach can't hold a populace comparable to other Halo titles has everything to do with the fact that it blows, thanks to AA loadouts. If the -blam!- game didn't suck, thousands of more would be playing it instead of all the CoD or BF games.

And LOL @ you being in good company with Bungie, when they're the ones who blew this game up on their way out. That's not good company bro. That's as bad as it gets.

AAs failed, and ruined the game. And now take a look at MLG, who more or less requested features that shifted Reach game play right back to real Halo. That's what happens when game developers listen to folks that have a clue. Good -blam!- occurs.

And what happens when game developers listen to retards like you? Bleedthrough gone, populations fall, etc.
