Correction, most of the Spartans are dead. And I'll defend to the death that Master Chief isn't the only one left. ANd even if you were going ONLY with what the game and game manuals mention, conversations from the universe in the special edition contain Cassandra as still alive. And yes, she IS a spartan.

I'm tired of this same argument being in 25 different threads. It's so retarted. There needs to be a main "Amount of Spartans Left" argumentation thread.

I like how your all acting like your all experts because youve read the books...And yea for all of you arguing about licensing...licensing just gives the author the privalege to use characters locations and themes from another source....thats all....So im kinda confused on why everyone here thinks the books mean everything. Bungie decides what goes into the game....The books are a seperate branch of halo. Just be patient and see what Bungie GAME studios has to say about the GAME.

If I can say something smart, I can. In Dead Or Alive 4 *Sorry to advertise another game* it has a SPARTAN in *With permission from Bungie, don't worry* named Nichole-458. Now 458 is abit out of the 150 SPARTANS the Master Chief was in. That's because they are still taking people into training in the SPARTAN II project, even if their creator has gone missing. And there were some SPARTANS left over from Reach in the books, I know, I've read.

Are you kidding me? How can you possibly relate Dead or Alive 4 to the halo 3 story line? She was just a spartan put in the game for the fun of it....It wasn't a way of bungie saying ooo were gonna leave secret messages and hints about the halo 3 story line....Their gonna make storyline decisions based on what they think is best. NOT because of the books, and certainly not because of Dead or Alive 4....

We argue and think we know so much because the books are CANON, meaning everything in the books is taken directly from the story of Halo. And yes, it has been confirmed that all that is in the books was taken from the Halo bible.

You are a sad man....It's a game....it's not a religion...and last time i checked...theres nothing that says Bungie has to follow a "Halo Bible"...

Edit: Plus how can the books be taken from the story of halo if the halo story isnt completed yet....

You are -blam!- retarted. The Halo bible is what contains the story of the Halo universe. Everyone knows about it. And it's been brought up and confirmed in many interviews. If you're too dumb not to know all the facts, then don't -blam!- comment. The creators of the game made it and use it for reference when making the games.

The Halo story has been created for years. It just hasn't been released to the public.

ok...well this -blam!- retard can think for himself that if the "halo bible" is what they base stuff off of, and holy crap would you look at that they havnt released it yet....Hmm i wonder if they could....oh i dunno....change whats in it to fit the game's needs? noooo they couldnt do that now could they?

EDIT: way to edit your post after mine...and im missing where they said theyve had the story done for years....cause im pretty sure on the halo 2 bonus disk they said they redid parts of the story when one of the writers "was going through a rough breakup at the time".....

They don't change it because it's the OFFICIAL story of the Halo universe written by Joseph Staten and why would they need to "bend" anything to fit their games? That's what the freakin game is. They didn't "redo" the story or any parts of it, they just had to work on different programming for the games and different aspects to work on at the time because one of the major employees spent most of his nights in a hotel and trying to get his wife back.

They haven't released the Halo Bible because :: gasp :: it would ruin and tell the whole Halo story. Huh, seems convenient.

no other spartans as far as they knew at the time.

of course first strike proves that there are spartans left. and i believe the books are considered official canon.

Becuase Bungie already knows how the stroy will end. They have over 500 years of Halo History in the Halo Story Bible.

If I can say something smart, I can. In Dead Or Alive 4 *Sorry to advertise another game* it has a SPARTAN in *With permission from Bungie, don't worry* named Nichole-458. Nicole isn't canon.

The Authors of the books work very closely with Bungie. Joe Staten has said that he talked with Eric Nylund when Eric was writing First Strike, and that he took the boks into acount when he was writing the story for Halo 2. The books are based off the Halo Story Bible. They are Canon. They should be treated as defining elements of the Halo Universe

And here are some quotes

How Stuff Works: Was the "Halo" story fully realized and segmented into different games, or did you take the story as far as "Halo 1" and when it came time for a sequel, build the story from the ground up?

Pete Parsons: The "Halo" universe has an overarching story that is well thought out and was well thought out before "Halo 2." We have roughly 600 years worth of "Halo" fiction, and we know what happens inside of that universe at any given time. The ["Halo 2"] story itself only existed as notes and was really fleshed out. We know ultimately, at least in the "Halo" universe, where humanity came from, where it's going to, at what point in time it comes in contact with The Covenant [the villains in "Halo"] and what happens well beyond that.

How Stuff Works: The novelization of a video game is, well ... novel. Where does Eric Nyland <sic> get the background for his books?

Pete Parsons: We work closely with him on all the stories. So what we do is we have these story arcs of the "Halo" universe, and Eric goes in and says, "Well that's a really good piece to take and here is in a microcosm what I think that story will look like."

EGM: So somewhere there's a Halo bible that has the basic storyline, including what goes on after Halo 2?

Pete Parsons: Yes, from the present day to the future.

The Fall of Reach, The Flood, and First Strike are official books. Yes, Bungie had say in their writing. Yes, the writers did some of their own work nothing was published without first receiving Bungie's approval.

My frined, i don't wish to insult you.. but if you read the infomation about the books it clearly states that the books were written by progessional writers who bungie allowed Sneak peeks at the Halo Bible .. thus it is Non cannon, but Actually story

The following people, places, and things in [i/]First Strike[/i] made an appearance in Halo 2.

Lord Terrence Hood
Fleet Admiral Harper
Battle Rifle
SMG
Earth's Orbital MAC Grid
The Prophet of Truth
Tartarus
The Arbiter
The Cairo, Athens, and Malta Space Stations
High Charity

And several others...

I personally think that they should include the other SPARTANs in the game in order to simply show that John-117 has a brother and sisterhood that he can rely on in the fight to retake Earth.

Edit: The Books are canon, that is a fact you cannot ignore.
