Do you think that all of the people that got banned for modding, standbying, and bridging in Halo 2 should be banned from Halo 3?

I think they should carry the bans over, because people who did not intend to play fair then, probably still won't want to play fair. The same people will always want to find a new way to ruin the game for others, banning them would stop the spread, or at least slow it down.

However, that is a harsh punishment for people who want a new game, so maybe they could make the bans only for a few months, just so they can't play it at release for all of the people who played fair in Halo 2. I wouldnt want the cheaters to be able to play Halo 3 right when I do, they don't deserve it.

Vote and Discuss.

If they cheated on H2 they will most certainly do it on H3.

I do not think they should. I in no way sympathise with cheaters but everyone deserves a second chance. Give them one chance to go straight in Halo 3 then give them a perm ban if they do not. Also modding should not be as big a problem because the Xbox 360 has not yet been hacked and hopefully bungie will make a new system for matchmaking to stop standby e.g. if connection is lost more than twice in a single game the host is switched to another player in the game.

Taking ranks out does not stop cheating. As an example I ask you have you ever seen cheating in team training? Yes most of us have and it happens almost as much as in ranked games.

Bump that. Those idiots knew what they were doing. I go online and play fare and get rewarded by being able to keep playing. If you go online and cheat then you should be rewarded by being banned.

It's not like they can't do the old LAN parties.

There is one problem with this topic..... As far as i know nobody has modded a Xbox 360 yet so it would be hard to mod in Halo 3 without mods. Besides different game means different stuff maybe they won't have a reason to cheat.... but then again its Halo and if its ranked again then they will probably cheat when they can sooo..... I say give them one chance and thats it unless they are repeated offenders which most are. Awww screw it just carry the bans over.

the ranks are there so you play against people of thr same skill level, so the do serve a purpose.and you know the 7 poeple that said that it shouldent carry over are cheaters.. ha ha, but seriously, bungie has worked long hard hours to weed out cheaters, there not gonna throw it away so give dirt a second chance

Halo's a hell of a drug.

Bungie gives them several chances before they get banned and these people keep doing it. Giving them one more chance will only mean aggrevation for those that don't cheat. Eventually those cheaters will cheat again and they'll have to be banned anyways. Lets cut out that step of the process and just keep them banned.

If you cheat once, your gone. If cheaters are allowed back in H3, what's stopping them from cheating again? just don't let cheaters back in, and the problem is solved.

Well, If you cheat then you are obviously some punk noob who doesn't know how to play Halo 2. Of course there will be noob cheaters, but can't bungie do more to stop them?

Let all be forgiven *clasps hands together* *gentle smile*

If you break Bungie's holly commandment(s), thou shall have a fate more terrible than the wrath of god himself.

These people, let us assume that they have been banned from halo 2 not xbox live. Bungie is then not alowed to ban them from halo 3 unless they cheat on halo 3. What you sugest would be like someone being banned from playing GRAW for cheating in Forza. Bungie is not alowed to do that. Whoever said removing ranks would stop cheating please tell me how apart from saying that they wont wont to any more (which is basicly what you have said so far).

I just hope H3 has the option of searching for games, rather than the overly-competitive, limitless supply of jerks match-making. It's much, much enjoyable for me to play a good ole' two team CTF on Zanzibar or Headlong than to play an overly-stressed game on Optimatch :P

In my opinion, people who ruined the experience for people in Halo 2 should not be allowed to play Halo 3. Harsh i know, but they made people unhappy and broke the Terms of Use. I think they don't deserve sympathy

Perhaps thiefs should never be alowed to buy anything ever again as punishment for stealing stuff.

I say to not ban them. The xbox 360 has defenses againts modders/hackers that the original xbox didn't so I think that all we have to look for is a few superbouncers.

Who says there won't be other types of hacking. Standby will still be around too, you can lessen it effects by making a system that changes host, but you can't change the fact that at any given time there is a host that has the ability to pause internet.
