Ok, I was looking through the halo library and here are some messages, I belive they are after the covie attack on earth, because it says there is barly any orbital platforms, but anyway take a look, its pretty cool, looks like an attack on the covies, it may be old, I dunno, but anyway here ya go:

Earth's Orbital MAC platforms are still undergoing rapid construction and augmentation. As of this moment, only six Orbital platforms are operational, with fourteen more to arrive in Earth's orbit, and ten in lunar orbit. ETA to completion is three months. Needless to say, the Covenant juggernaut will plow through us faster than they did the sailors of Reach if they were to arrive within days.

Sydney and the Admirality have finally determined the time and place for a major offensive against the Covenant Armada with its main purpose being to buy Earth the time it needs.

To give a brief overview, all commanding officers of any registered UNSC ships are to make their ships battle-ready within six days, and make ready for a slipspace journey to the edge of the Kuiper Belt. Once at the threshold, we will proceed via normal space into the Kuiper Belt, and take up assigned positions. The rendezvous is bearing 279.086 degrees, declination 15.673 degrees, and is designated rally point TANGO, because that is EXACTLY what we are going to do.

The boys down in ONI Section II are up to their necks in establishing morale and unity throughout the Inner Colonies…let's give them something gen-u-ine to talk about.

After the six days of getting your ships battle ready, there is a mandatory conference for all UNSC Commanding Officers in the Cole Memorial Conference Center, down the Maple Hall. Admiral Sir Terrence Hood and myself will elaborate on the mission even further. Just make sure your ships are battle-ready by the time we convene.

I'm sure many of you feel that leaving earth is the last thing we need to do, what with leaving the billions of civilians all vulnerable to attack...but there's only one difference with this battle, as opposed to the thousands of others we have fought; we have something the Covenant will want. And they will engage a distant UNSC contingent force to get it. And that means, ladies and gentlemen, we are sailing with marines…

More at the conference...3 days after, we start the mission.

Admiral Jonas Gibson

Total vessels: 72 confirmed ready for deployment
Total naval personnel: 14,627
Total marines: 10,000

The number of operational orbital platforms is now up to 13. However, seven of those have yet to receive the necessary augmentations, including more efficient electro-magnetic coils for quick charge-and-fire. Our current coils allow the cannons to only fire at intervals of 10 seconds, still leaving the groundside generators quite vulnerable to attack. Time is of the essence.

All UNSC personnel must make final checks at their stations, and prepare for immediate slipspace transit.

We will bring our ships to bearing 279.086, declination 15.673 degrees, and then engage a simultaneous slipspace jump to Waypoint 1A on that bearing. From Waypoint 1A comes the treacherous trip via normal space to rally point TANGO which will be performed by shipboard A.I.s so as to minimize debris damage.

All commanding officers must oversee the enactment of the Cole Protocol to safeguard other Inner Colonies. Failure to adhere will result in capital punishment. A.I.s must also safeguard their memory matrices, and delete data valuable to the Covenant.

Godspeed Admiral Jonas Gibson

Virgil's battle-net is secure. Confirm he is integrated with the flagship, Reclaimer.

We also brought out Project NOVA…it's about time the Covenant get a taste of the atom at its best.

I don't really understand it all....don't you think that we look way too deep into this stuff?

This looks like it was just before Hal0 2 because the MACs are being built and ships are being upgraded. I would have to guess that in the midst of preparing, the Covenant showed up at Earth which is why this never took place in the game.

I am...whimsical today.

Thats some interesting stuff. Project NOVA is the super atomic weapon mentioned in First Strike. I'll follow the link and read more.

I think that this is what takes place before Halo 2. It was interesting to read and was a good find though. I may be mistaken here, but I think that there was a battle like this or it was this battle that took place in First Strike.

Remember in the beginning of halo where they say that there is a massive build up of ships around earth and that they say no body is saying anything but somthing big is about to happen. I'd say this is the explaination of why there wer so many ships near earth at the beginning of halo 2. I suppose the accidental arrival of Regret threw the plans off for an offensive action.

Exactly, thats why this means that there will be a fight in the covenant homeworld, because the UNSC knows where ther covie's are at, but, sadly ur right, plans were thrown off, but, i'll look more into it.

"Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future."- John F. Kennedy

They folded out of the system immediately
after I received the message, without so
much as a "Thanks for saving us from
becoming plasma on Tau Ceti, Durandal".

Thats a fan creation, not Bungie cannon.
