Do you think that the sword (and only the sword) should be able to cut stuff off such as an enemys arm or their head for the kill animation i think this would be realistic and help you tie better into the game imagine in mutliplayer your covering your best friend when a elite steps around the corner and chops his arm off you get pissed off and charge the elite killing it. The only thing about this is no squirting blood because then everyone will get mad

I tend to dislike games with body parts that fall off, and blood that squirts. It looks terrible, and just screams "WE CAN'T MAKE A COOL GAME, SO HERE'S SOME GRATUITOUS VIOLENCE!"

Plus, I'd rather not ever lose the usage of my arms or legs in Halo 2. That'd suck.

I'm all for limb loss and stuff, it looks awesome. But with Halo.... Halo was a great game and did not need gory animations. It has good "clean" violence. I think limb lossmight detract from the actual gameplay but I know what you are talking about.

Is this even an appropriate topic? Considering what's going on in Iraq and what happened to that guy

I'm not so sure about Halo 2 including all of this, but if they can pull it off (literally), then hey, why not

Yea good point maka. I never saw that one video but heard about it. What I don't inderstand is why they released the photos to the media in the first place! Then that crap would probably of never happened but who knows he's dead now. That Berg guy's dad blamed the Bush administration too even though they had nothing to do with it. Stupid people who dwell on the past!

Yea I'd hate to bring politics in here, but it wasn't at all Bush's fault. I know people that've seen that video, but I'll never watch; I see a lot of crazy stuff on the internet, but I refuse to watch someone die outright like that, hell no

Yea I thought about watching it but it would be wrong to. He never even had a chance to fight back or anything! I'm guessing it was kinda like Colateral damage when that guy got a snake sent down his throat because he let Arnold into the country.

First off this is a Bungie forum. Let's talk about Bungie things. Secondly people die. People die in horrible ways every single day. And decapitation is not too uncommon. I even went so far as to see that video. And as sick as this sounds, it did not bother me. Probably because of the fact I have seen 4 people die in front of my face, and have had three near brushes with death myself.

But back to Halo 2 or something people.

So doesn't that Battle Rifle seem a bit unbalanced? Ya know 36 rounds that are almsot as tough as the pistol and it fires in three round bursts. Seems unfair to me, well for the new people at least.

my bad didnt mean it like that
i meant just for the sword nothing else i hate it when you see a pistol shoot someones arm off but that would be a reason for fearing the sword besides it killing you real fast there would be no squirting blood cause that looks stupid and now that i think about it probablly no head but an arm or somethin every now and then not all the time would be ok i think

I'd rather they didn't. We'd lose more polys and have to do more bitmapping for all the severed limbs.

I'd rather see more variety of weapons, custom death animations, rag doll physics.... Other things would add to the realism in far better ways.

It would just look bad anyway.

I have to agree with Draerdon, I think the game relly needs imroved ragdoll effects, and a bigger variety of falling animations and death animations.

I'm getting really tired of watching MC's body move the exact same way every time a grenade goes off near a dead body. And I hate it when a dead body is sticking straight out from a cliff because one of it's feet is caught on the legde.

I think that with the plasma sword it would be cool to see someones head fall off. If it only happened on rare occasions and they made it look cool. It is like a finishing move. That would suck to get your arm cut off because you couldn't use it but a rolling head every so often couldn't be that bad.

The plasma sword looked pretty hokey in the multiplayer tutorial. For those of you who have read the books, you know that the sword shouldn't knock an enemy back thirty feet. It would be much less Unreal-ish if Bungie added more blood (in the form of decals, you've seen it in the original Halo) and left it at that. And don't they look different than the plasma swords at the end of 2003's E3 demo? The MP sword this year looks like a cookie-cutter.
