Subject: What would it take to become a writer at Bungie?

You are all constructs of my solipsist mind.

I'm really into creative writing, and I want to be an author after college. I have begun writing my own novel, and I actively write poetry and short stories.

Then I saw that Bungie has openings for writers, and I thought,
My God! What an amazing job that would be! Designing the universe for Bugnie's games!

My questions are:
Do Bungie writers have to be well acquainted with scripting and storyboarding? Do some have free reign on the creative aspect of writing? How competitive would it be? And what experience would be necessary to be considered for that position?

If I had one wish for Bungie.net, it would be to be able to change my username. Even if it cost me Microsoft Fun-Money, Space Bucks, or Stosh Dollars. That is all.

I'm pretty sure you can find all of the skills required here.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think Bungie should hire graphic artists

But, I am sure they would need to see your previous works and degrees.

How would you get any experience? i.e., where would you start?

Publishing works, writing books that get published, have experience writing stories or campaigns for other games.

Well... You could work at an indie game studio and get some work experience. I don't know of any indie studios that are any good though.

Go to college for writing. Get an internship in some portion of the entertainment business where you can establish contacts and connections. Get a job as a writer in that field. Do so for 1-3 years. Do well and establish yourself with higher-ups you could use as references. Apply to Bungie. If they don't want you, go back to the biz for a few more years and try again. Get as much experience as you can.

(I would turn this into a list but........meh)

OP - You're a dumbass with the reading comprehension skills of a second grader.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Imagination.

And possibly a degree from college. (Probably Bachelor's, but I'm not sure. The "We're Hiring" page should explain everything in detail.)

I am the dark shadow haunting and lunking in the corner of your basement visiting B.net and asking for chocolate.

A pretty hot Master Chief-Recon Number 54 fan fiction will probably do you some good.

Chapter

The ability to capture people's imagination with your words, not with pictures. This is not simply something that you can learn from school. Teachers give you the tools but you have to provide the creativity.
