Name's John. I'm a 21-year-old firefighter/EMT from lolhio who doubles as a die-hard Halo fan. I've been enjoying the franchise since 2001. My favorite iteration of Halo would have to be Halo 2 simply because I never got to experience the joy of a full-on Halo: CE LAN.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
Oh yeah, and boot Zome.

Exactly I don't see why they couldn't just stick to the story, and have you play as a marine, trooper, or Spartan II.

The book was just an overall better story. There was absolutely no need to crap all over it to make a bad game.
Because Reach was meant to be a special and unique snowflake just like the kids who think Reach's story was the best out of any Halo, be it book or game.
Hey now, Fall of Reach was pretty good. Wasn't spectacular, but far better than the game's story.
My point though is that Bungie had no good reason to crap all over well-established canon, even if Reach's story was better. Why not just follow the already established story and go off that, instead of basically completely starting over?
Fall of Reach was one of my favorite books out of them all. I know it's good. I never spoke to the contrary.
And I agree that there was no need to force all the unnecessary elements for Reach like the Spartan IIIs. My snowflake comment was supposed to describe Bungie's mentality whilst devising Reach's narrative.
