I remember when my friend Shawn and I walked the two miles it took to get to Wal-Mart to pick up his first Xbox title. The Xbox was new, and we were pretty skeptical on what we should but I kept hearing Halo get thrown around on a forum I used to visit. So we grabbed it, headed home and popped it in, after milling around on the Pillar of Autumn for the 30 minutes or so the level took, we crash landed and took our first steps on the ring world of Halo. No game has ever given me the sense of awe the first Halo gave me. Watching this huge world expand out in front of me, the sun pouring in through trees and over rocks as the warthog bounced from hills to ancient corridors and hallways. Fighting my way through a blood and body covered battlefield as the Covenant and the Flood each fought for survival. When Halo: Reach came out I was deployed to Camp Taji, Iraq. I had to take a UH60 Blackhawk to Baghdad to pick up my copy, along with a dozen others to distribute amongst the platoon. I got it about three weeks after release. Every moment my buddies and I had off we spent on the LAN we had created amongst our living quarters, occasionally we'd drag our tv's over to A Co's building to take on our com guys in some 4v4.
Bungie, it's been such a fun ride. Thanks for all of the great memories over the years, putting your fans first, and committing yourselves to creating such a great game. Can't wait to see what's next.
