today i typed cortana.net in for a web address. And what i found was interesting. When i went to the web sight all i found was a single page. It was an images of a shield with a sword imbeded into it. let me know if u find out anything on this. here is a link to the web page http://cortana.net

P.S. i also want to add that i watched the H-3 trailer and i listened to cortana say "i am your shield i am your sword" at half speed. And at half speed it sounds like Cortana says source instead of sword. So maybe this web sight is a sorce of info. for halo 3. or maybe not, ya never know what bungie is up to.

I am your shield, i am your sword.

Probably a fake, cause it really has nothing to do with anything besides that, and it's only one page.

I'm betting fake.

Just a little easter egg, if you call it that, it says this in the page source:

<!-- Hah! Bet you were expecting a hidden message here, weren't you? -->

  • 05.29.2006 2:17 PM PDT

Probably a fake, but strange....

I found this in the source code of the website

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>cortana.net</title>
</head>

<body bgcolor="#000000" background="img/grid.gif">
<table width="100%" height="100%" border=0>
<tr>
<td align="center" valign="middle">
<img src="img/sword.gif" width=126 height=220>
</td>
</tr>
</table>

</body>
</html>

<!-- Hah! Bet you were expecting a hidden message here, weren't you? -->

What do you think?

Edit- sorry already posted...

It's fake. Or at least, I'm betting it is. Go to /img. All that's there is the grid and the sword thing, which means there would be absolutely no other images on the site. Highly unlikely, but you never know...

That's before the trailer release!
Maybe it's not fake and it's a real ilovebeesish site.

I think this is worth looking into, but that's just my opinion.

I attempted to send an email to the following accounts:

cortana@cortana.net
admin@cortana.net

with the following message:

Subject: /ping
/resolve host name
/scan perameters: AI
/request addition information on target: http://cortana.net

Both returned as failed to deliver. *sighs* oh well.

Someone could have just changed the date. Its not hard to. But it wouldn't suprise me if it was a fake or it wasn't, we know what bungie can get up to.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but look at the source code.

just because it says that doesnt make it fan made...
but then again it might be because ilovebees.com didnt come out and say HI IM RELATED TO HALO 2! and cortana.net has it in its name.

one more thing the day the trailer released i went to www.finishthefight.com, but it says its under construction.

I don't mean that WE change the date, i meant how could anybody change the date? Isn't it automaticly generated? Or did the creator of this site changed his computer clock?

Sega Mega Drive, Golden Axe and Sonic all day!

meh. i think some of these could be proper sites that bungie or whoevers doing the marketing campaign may use, they just havent been given the go ahead by bungie yet. ilovebees only started up a couple months before release, they dont want to generate hype this early.

and stumbling on lyca was an absolute fluke from someone who linked a bit of the trailer to the guy who made the lyca website.

Were trying to discover too much too early ;)

I think they would imagine a game that tops ilovebees. Longer deeper it would be great. Thats my opinion thow.

I wouldn't be surprised if they started this stuff this early. It would build up momentum for the game AND, provided there was enough content, would allow us stuff to talk about other than how many dots are on MC's armor... *growls*
