Absolutely not! NOT having a health bar system was one of the most fun things in Halo 2. Shields all the way!

I'm hoping the health pack fad will die out in games, it's rather unrealistic. I want to see medics!

I like the medic idea but why would MC need a medic he's MC he's not a whimp and plus it takes the focus off fighting when you're running around searching for a medic.

I'm glad the health packs were gone in Halo 2. That way, nobody is ever at a disadvantage after a battle. And you won't finish a battle and walk up to a health pack half-way across the level because you'll die very quickly the next time you face someone. And then getting picked off by a sniper right after you get your health pack.

Health and inevitably health packs are needed though there is a game play advantage to being able to continue fighting unhindered by your last combat it also presents equal oppurtunities to ruin game play most heavily in regards to halo 1's ability for weaker equipped players to wittle down a foe with say a super weapon while in halo 2 all the poer weapon holder has to do even if his weaker equipped foe did get a trap on him is just run and hide for 8 seconds and he will be completely healed health wise. With almost full recovery before that. This also becomes an even larger issue with vehicles where in halo 1 you could widdle a person down and force him out of a vehicle through damaging him now you need to kill him all at once or he will (and it does happen) stay in a powerful vehicle and just pull hit and run attacks all day in a heavily armoured and now very small arms resistant vehicle.

I'd say mix these two features so that you both can regain yourself after a conflict without deviating from health balance.

I would suggest something like a kill reward health pack system. This would be a nice feature for a number of reasons (though there are of coarse some downsides). Let's say upon the death of a player he drops out a health pack which regains only half of his health or better yet just a minor 1/3 only enough to refill what he may have lost in a fight so long as his foe was of weaker skill while if the foe was equal or greater skill than you you will either just be dead or weakened over the effects of the single health pack and will be punished for such.
This system works well as it doesn't allow long range snipers from merely picking off foes and still regenerating and healing as they do now so there will be more benefit from fighting up close so you may collect your prize.

This with the occasional full health pack lieing around could still keep players well alive but only if they are active and mobile where as now a sniper well positioned to camp can pop up fire a few off take some limited damage and fall back behind cover and continue camping all day as his damage will not catch up to him. Though if he choses to become more involved in combat to gain his rewards he will then be vulnerable (a trade off).
While if someone is stuck fighting in close quarters where he is more likely to take damage per each kill such as with a shotgun or close range AR fire and recieving fire he will be able to quickly heal so long as he finishes his foe.

To balance this system I would suggest making this health only appear if an enemy killed a player to prevent team killing to reheal the players. That with possibly only allowing the killer of the player to see or recieve the benefits of the health. Plus make the health only available temporarily to discourage stockpiling kills in ana area to make a stream of recovery for him.

Well that is just my bit of input on the situation. I will wait to see how halo 3 turns out. If it is just near instant regeneration as we have now I will count that against me likely buying the game but if they do address the issue at least in some attempt to restore accountability then I will count it towards my likelyhood of making such a purchase. Though as of now I'm still more concerned about auto aim that can not be personally set lower than anything else as I really hate not being able to weaken my own auto aim.

No, not medics, who would decide who the medic is? And if it is random then the person chosen might be an idiot and never heal anyone. Another thing, haven't you seen Red vs Blue? The medic was useless, infact he was more than uselsess, he turned against them all!

No. One reason: Halo PC.

Health packs = bad for multiplayer.

In an 8v8 on Blood Gulch, when I'm in the banshee, and I get wounded, I land on the base to get a health pack, while an enemy or one of my teammates steals my banshee, and I'm screwed. No Health packs please.
