Alright. Here we go...

Gravemind controls the Flood correct? If so the Forerunners should have soon realized that they had some form of communication without really communicating. They did build Halo after all... So soon Gravemind should have been discovered or at least killed, even if he wasn't he could have never accesesd the Forerunner teleporters to get around...
Secondly, Gravemind should have been killed.. This means that either:
1: He managed to surive (Maybe Forerunner did too) or
2:After the activation of Halo the flood evolved and somehow one evolved into a super being that could think and manipulate others... That is not possible. You would need nearly all of your DNA to change. So... this leads me to conclude that their is more than 1 Gravemind type of character or that something else is playing with the flood DNA...or Gravemind is a living Forerunner (Infected of course)

This is what I think.
Gravemind is a Forerunner. Who better understnads everything? Take the cutscene when Gravemind holds an Oracle, a Prophet, and John. He understnads them all. Well according to all these theories out there, he has to be a Forerunner, somehow able to resist the flood similar to Sgt. Johnson.

Can anybody explain this for me?

gravemind may be accociated with the flood but i dont think they need him and do the words "adaptive" parasetic lifeform ring a bell? flood are smarter than they look and notice how graveming makes his first apearence on a halo instalation, meaning the forruners probably were holding him for study mabee he was jus another intelligent being controled by an infection form but in a much larger scale and the flood are using him like they used keyes as a brain form jus food 4 thought

Gravemind could be the forerunner because hes sure as hell not a flood. The flood are mindless so maybe hes just another organism that lives on halo.

I have one question though, if Halo was activated before, how did the Flood survive? I mean, there still there aren't they.

Thats a good question for which a have 2 answers.

1.There are imperfections with Halo.
2.The Flood know where the Ark is (At least Gravemind).

But nobody knows for sure.

Sgt. Johnson has some disease which doesnt let the Flood reconize him.

The flood are not mindless. They invade, strip, and devour all of the sentient thoughts and memories of whatever they are inhabit. Private jenkins, despite his flood parasite being weak, still felt the strong presence of a primitive, hungry, violent entity is his own mind.

The flood think. Even basically, they think.

Books. It's a disease caused by close proximity to plasma weapons (in his case gernades). The radiation causes fluxuations in his nueral pathways that aren't appealing to the Flood. They "infected him" but couldn't take over. The dead Flood cells stayed in his body and give him regenerative powers.

I'm not lying, this is what's written in the books.

Read the books.

I never said they were mindless. I had thought that Gravemind controls them. Right?

sgt Jihnson got off the halo supposedly in a pelican. being immune to the flood has no relation to how he got off halo.

Curiously, if the Flood was the biblical flood (40days/nights; Noah's Ark), the Gravemind would be God.

Because Halo stops the Flood by killing its host.

The Halos themselves do not kill the Flood. They kill all sentient beings in the galaxy, so as to prevent the flood from spreading and populating the entire star system. Halos do nothing to affect the flood directly. They just get rid of their food: living things.

Obviously, the ones that "survived" are ones that still had food to consume. They die off by being starved, and the ones that had organic material to infect continued to prosper.
