Gravemind cant be the forerunner because humanity is (or at least it sounds better), and graveming is the boss of the flood, hes like the queen in the ants nest!

Hmm, the idea that Gravemind could be a Forerunner is interseting. But even if it was, it hardly matters. First off, if the Forerunner was nearly infected but survived (Johnson), then he would juist continue to live as a Forerunner. If it was infected, but not completely infected (Keyes), that wouldn't give him the any power over the Flood. What makes this so complicated is that we still don't know exactly what Gravemind does. Does he control the Flood as their single consiousness? Does he rule over them because they simply have no free will (ants)? Does he even rule over them at all? It's all full of unknowns. All we know now is that he has some connection to the Flood.

Answering question
I realized something. It was never said Halo kills the Flood... (I think) So what did they need to surive?

My Question
So why does 343 Guilty Spark say "Im grateful some survived"?

What they need to survive is a host, something they can infect and feed off of. But that only lasts so long. So Halo kills everything that the Flood could infect. Why don't they kill Flood? No one knows.
343GS was "grateful some survived" because he was created by the Forerunners, or at least used by them, and the Forerunners wanted to study the Flood. He is glad that some survived so that the study could continue, probably. That's the only explaination I can think of. He obviously wanted Halo activated...

Halo CE......(sigh) the good ol' days......

“Go, stranger, and to Lacedaemon tell that here, obeying her behests, we fell.”

343 is actualy referring to the human race when he makes that last comment

What makes you think that?

Halo CE......(sigh) the good ol' days......

“Go, stranger, and to Lacedaemon tell that here, obeying her behests, we fell.”

he says something to the matter of, "the flood were kept here purely for study...ther survival as a race was dependent upon it, i am glad to see that some of them survived to reproduce" i believe he changes topics after the "the flood were kept here purely for study" because the forerunner would not be trying to save the flood but to study them to find a weakness that they could exploit, however the forerunners survival as a race would have been dependen upon them studying the flood and then if you believe forerunners=humans when he makes his next comment you understand that he means he is grateful that some forerunners survived to reproduce.....not very overwhelming proof but whatever...its what i personally believe, i may be wrong...

That is any intersting point, I never thought of it that way. BTW, I don't think that Forerunners are humans. It all depends on what the Forerunners were orignally studying the Flood for. Were they attacked by them, so they started trying to find a weakness? Or did they find them, and were scientifically interested? Or perhaps the Forerunners even created the Flood. In the first case, your probably right. In the second case, it's possible either way. In the third case, well it depends on weither the Forerunners wanted the Flood to survive after they were gone. Who knows? Anyway good point.

Maybe the forerunners made the flood, in an experiment, and they went out of control like in all sci-fi movies.

Maybe the forerunner died because of the flood, like in the DOOM movie, they made the flood, then the flood turned on the forerunner and then the flood destroyed the forerunner and the last forerunner activated the Halo's
