I guess that after working on halo for so long you guys didn't want to do it anymore but Halo IS Bungie and nothing can change that. I don't like the idea of 343 doing halo. They're changing chiefs personality, there introducing the forerunners or something like that (Pretty cool but still there supposed to be dead) and also the whole bungie site isn't even fun anymore, no halo no nothing. I think you guy's should've just kept the rights and whatever else on halo. That's personally my opinion. I would totally enjoy though to see you guys outdo your own game with an even cooler game.

Naw, they should slam 343 and Microsoft with a game so great that its sales surpass that of Halo 4.

They so should but its Halo, they game we all know and love and I don't think it'll be easy to surpass them. I really don't like 343. They've -blam!- up reach too! Almost everything is title updated. I want to play reach damn it! Not your -blam!- attempt at making reach like halo 3

Sir Arch-Duke Ferdinand II Jr. Sr. III Phd.

343 isn't changing Chief's personality, they gave vague hints that they're revealing more of it. You can't speculate more than that. Also we don't know what they're introducing yet.

Goodbye bungie. We'll forever miss you!

They've said that his personality is changing. They've seen it done in book and now they want to put it in a game.

  • 04.03.2012 2:40 PM PDT

Let me clarify some things:

1) We've known that the Forerunners are alive for 5 years now.

2) They're not changing his personality (this is in fact something they said they won't do) but taking a closer look at him.

3) Bungie hasn't had the rights to Halo since 1999.

How have we known the forerunners have been alive?

The Halo 3 terminals implied it when Didact mentions something about an Exodus and carrying their bitter record with them as they went upon the Great Journey. Cant think of exact quote; I'm doped up on anti-allgergenics atm.

The Encyclopedia later confirmed it.

It was time for them to leave it behind, I just want some info on the new hotness.

-blam!- well that's disappointing but pretty cool at the same time. Like it would've been cool if they were a extinct race but also the fact that we'll possibly see them in game play would be freaking awesome

  • 04.03.2012 3:00 PM PDT

Bungie had to make a choice when they decided to separate from Microsoft.

They had to give up Halo for their freedom. And they did.

It wasn't a choice, so there no "should they have". They simply weren't going to.

Also, Chief's personality is not changing. It's always been there in the books, they are just bringing it to the games.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

After Reach? lolno.

  • 04.03.2012 5:19 PM PDT

No, because Bungie dropped the ball with Halo 3 after the first few levels. Halo and Halo 2 was magnificent, creative, and made us play through the game with sheer awe.

I never forgave Bungie for bastardizing the Flood in Halo 3, they became a joke and they were given less attention to compared with the Covenant.

The Halo 3 story line became a soap opera in space instead of an epic science fiction game that pushed the boundaries of an epic interstellar space warfare tale.

It's time for 343 Industries to take over the reins for future Halo titles. They'll breathe life into the game and make sure it constantly pushes the borders of storytelling, epic gaming elements, and bring in new and innovative things whenever possible.

Halo 3 is the game that disappointed me greatly, ODST and Reach was good in my opinion.

343's doing fine.

Chief was never much of a character in the games so changing his personality isn't such a big change. Besides, we already have seen some of his soft side, like when he retrieves Cortana and is in Johnson's last moments. It's plainly obvious that H3 was not the end of Halo. The Legendary ending in addition to the above are clear evidence that Halo must go on.

And there's nothing wrong with bringing back supposedly dead characters if there's a plausible explanation.

Finally, someone else who sees!

I disagree that Reach was good but I do think that it's slightly above H3.

Bungie didn't have a choice in the matter. It was really only a matter of time before Bungie wanted to develop something else. They were paired with Microsoft, now their on their own again.

In all honesty, I'm glad Halo is done and Bungie is moving on.

They stunned the gaming industry several times over. I imagine they have something cool planned for their next platform.

Good business move imo

What is it that makes you think that Reach wasn't good? Granted, Master Chief and the Flood wasn't in it - I was glad the Flood wasn't in it because I know Bungie wouldn't had done them much needed justice.

After learning about custom loadouts, I sure wish Bungie kept the franchise.

We cannot criticize 343 until Halo 4 is released, have faith and be patient. Bungie on the other hand have a greater view of things, they have an idea and a path. They have done a great job in the past and I'm sure they will continue to do so with their new tale.

We’re flawed because we want so much more. We’re ruined because we get these things and wish for what we had.

By that logic, Call of Duty is the best game ever.
Sales numbers do not translate over to quality.

Halo was cramping Bungies style, it was time for them to move on after ODST.

If you've seen my posts, you'll know that I detest Reach's enemy AI. They're hard to the core all right. But it's so difficult to control them.

When I was playing the Reach demo, the first thing I sought to do was gain map control of the LNoS main beach as I saw how poorly the friendly AI were doing and how their deaths actually negatively impacted my performance by a kill stealing Pelican taking away potential victims of my designs. I eventually came up with a setup that controlled the flow of the enemy as well as finding a way to assassinate nearly all of them. Problem is, the high damage, slow player, lack of cps, lack of save and quit, somewhat underpowered weapons, etc. impeded gameplay greatly.

So no, I don't dislike it because I'm not playing as Master Chief (I hated him in H3) or because the Flood are absent (I hated them post CE). I dislike Reach because the enemies felt even cheaper than they did in H3 and because of how limited one's approach against them could be. Their AI is superior to CE and H2 but they have no weaknesses or mistakes. Only flaws (i.e. berserking. Whereas CE Elites berserked after taking near death damage). AI with no weaknesses or mistakes just aren't fun to work with.

There is no way Microsoft would have allowed them their independence and take Halo with them. It was the price that had to pay for their freedom to create whatever they wanted. :-(

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

I believe nobody should continue Halo, and it should be stopped. I've played them all except CEA, and beyond Halo 3: ODST, Halo simply feels like a money making machine.

Halo: Combat Evolved was never intended to have a sequal to begin with, and now we're looking at the possibilities of Halo 5 and 6 due to contracts with Microsoft.

Master Chief is going the way of Sonic the Hedgehog.
