I have been playing Halo 2 since Janurary 05 and I love it. I have never in my life played a game like it on a PC, never used a mouse and whatever to play a FPS ever. Is it difficult to use a mouse to get the same results on a PC? Reason I ask is I really want to get H2PC when it comes out after I get a Vista PC (I wanna try the map editor). Just curious mainly. Or will I be able to use a controller with my PC? Just thought some of you may know more about it than I.

Thanks in advance.

You can use controllers with PC's you just have to find the proper drivers. However, it is much easier to aim with a mouse then with a controller. Think about it this way, with a controller you aim with your thumb, with a mouse you aim with your whole arm. When you get Halo2Vista or HaloPC(it's only $20)Try it with the keyboard/mouse first and give it time. You should find it intuitive and you will be at a advantage over players using controller

Considering MS is developing Halo 2 Vista, and the fact that the Xbox 360 controller works for a PC connection, I'm fairly confident that Halo 2 Vista will support the Xbox 360 controller. And I'm sure they will make the game easily playable on the controller for those that want the 'console' feel. (Though I'm sure they'll switch once they face us mouse & keyboard folk ;))

Hey thanks for this info. I just can't imagine how you would beat down, shoot, jump etc etc without a controller lol. Sounds interesting. Maybe I will finally be able to snipe lol.

It works fine. All you need to do is buy a WIRED X360 controller and plug it into one of your USB ports on a PC running XP SP2. You'll have to download a driver to make the interface work properly, but it's easy as cake.

Beatdown-F

Shoot-Left Click

Jump-Space

It works really well. I (at first) used a controller. The entire time I finishing last in every game. The main reason, is because on consoles (becuase a controller is so inaccurate) there is auto-aim that aims it for you. On a PC, the mouse and keyboard is so accurate auto-aim is not needed. This is why a controller will always suck compared to a mouse and keyboard.

Also, when sniping, do you remember to lead your shots? There is really bad netcode and you will always have to aim 2 feet in front of the guy your shooting at.

Sorry so long to respond, yes I lead my shots but I just plain suck. I am excited about H2 on PC, maybe I can finally snipe.

I can. Simply move the HPC controls to H2PC.

Sniping is too easy, seriously. It takes no skill. When there's no auto-aim, sniping will actually take skill in H2PC. H2PC is going to rule, and I'm going to pwn you all in it. :P

Actually I think that was meant to be in there so it would be more difficult to snipe. It makes the game more interesting in my opinion. Also snipers can't completely blow through a game, and need more skill than point and shoot.

You know you keep saying that but I've never seen it first hand. The players that piss me off when they pickup a sniper are [X] IGN, fastmatt, McKeegan and ~ZEN~.

No, you misunderstood me. I was saying that sniping [i]in Halo 2[/b] was too easy, (not HPC). The auto-aim is so severe that any noob who picks it up can get a kill, unless they're absolutely bad. Sniping in Halo PC takes skill. Sniping in Halo 2 does not. But H2PC won't have auto-aim, so that's why sniping will take skill in H2PC. Not that sniping doesn't take skill in HPC.

Must...get...on...that...list...
I think I'm already on that list, except that I haven't picked up the sniper rifle. :)

HA! Do you know how much we all HATE the netcode? Who in their right mind would purposly mess up a game? I have hated GearBox for screwing up the port to PC.....

Ya, it may be hard to aim and shoot with a sniper, however it takes pure absolute skill to kill with it, espically all the way across the map such as on BG in 8x zoom.

Ya also with mouses its easier to aim and move as it keeps up with your reflects, theres no limit such as controllers, the mouse pratically becomes part of your arm, but it'll take time to get use to it, controllers and the mouse are just so different, a thumb vs your entire arm................

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I've been roughing it trying to play Halo PC with a Logitech RumblePad for about 3 weeks now, and all I can say is, it's not worth it. The guided aim in the XBOX version was a must, and without it, you're just gonna spray your shots everywhere. Get used to the mouse and you might notice how much more accurate it is.

Thanks you guys, I appreciate all this feedback. Now all I need is my new PC and Halo2 PC :)
