It had better not be what I think it is going to be...
What would others think if there was a Halo/Marathon crossover?

I doubt it, as Marathon does belong to Bungie not Microsoft.

They just go missing in action.

The picture in that article is from the Halo 4 multi-player, also I believe Bungie owns the rights to Marathon. Ergo no, it's not. Activision registered a bunch of Call of Duty domains with many different names.

P.S. I just wanted to throw the word ergo in there to make myself sound smart.

Different companies you guys gotta start getting use to it

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

Besides, Halo belongs to 343 Industries now, so I doubt they would try to mix it with Marathon.

The Marathon franchise, to my understanding, is still under Bungie's control. The site may well just be for brand protection, like the "Halo 9" domain. Maybe, not saying anything for sure.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

Not gonna happen dude. Two different companies involved here that don't want anything to do with each other. Not the most innovative idea anyway.

Haters are going to hate.
Praisers are going to praise.

The Bungie Forums are what keeps my mind sharp and my fingers active, between writing my own movie scripts, drawing, and studying industrial design. At the moment I'm working on miniatures for a short movie that I'll hopefully be able to film once I've saved up for a camera... That's me, with the mug, trying to have a conversation with Konoko.

Since there is a ship in Glasslands, called the Infinity, I think their recent domain purchase, is becauseof it.

The ships function is very similar to the UNSC Spiritof Fire...

everything/anything can be compared to sand on a beach

I hope not. Marathon and Halo are unique in their own ways. crossing them over would just be a disaster.

Probably just 343i registering it for some sort of future project. Although I can say the same for Bungie.

In the Recent leaked Game Informer posted on Neogaf it(Infinity)is where the Spartan IV's train.. This essentially means Multiplayer on the Ship.

I do believe it is owned by Microsoft as Bungie made it while they where a Microsoft production company. Therefore anything that was made during that time is owned by MS.

Marathon was not made during that time. It was made long before. Marathon is still owned outright by Bungie, which is why they can still sell stuff in the Bungie store with the Marathon logo on it and is also why the Marathon logo that used to be in a lot of places in Halo games from the side of the Pillar of Autumn to the badges on UNSC officers has been removed in the Halo games from Reach onward. It's most evident in Halo Anniversary as all the Marathon logos that appeared all over the place in Combat Evolved were actually taken out for Combat Evolved Anniversary since MS owns Halo, but not Marathon.

...And when i am standing there, watching as the slingshot is cranked back into the shadows, a smile will bestow upon my face as I softly whisper one word..."blam...."

Check out my Youtube Channel!

no, its the new name for halo 4 multiplayer.

  • 04.10.2012 12:38 PM PDT

I will own everyone in Halo: Reach

The new multiplayer will be named "Infinity". I think that's why they registered that domain. Or maybe they're gonna do some DLC or Halo 3: ODST style add-on campaing regarding the Infinity.

No Marathon.

*Spoiler Alert*

If you read the new gameinformer Halo 4 article, it explains that most or all (I can't remember) of the multiplayer maps will take place on the UNSC ship Infinity, which is outfitted with a terrain-maker holo-style map builder which can replicate any landscape.

Spartan Ops is sort of like Call of Duty Spec Ops, but extremely more cinematic. Every week for a few months, actually, 343 will release a series of DLC cooperative gameplay missions centered around Spartan IV's that are entirely free, and will according to game informer be as large in scope and gameplay as the campaign itself.
