Why do so many people want to see the Master chiefand arbiter die? its completly stupid!
first of all the arbiter alot of people say it sucks playing as him theres no real difference, the game doen't change, so what you've got some elites fighting with you and you can go invisible if you want whats wrong with that.
The chief, thers so many stories that people have made up as a example of him dieing they all suck, because its the cheif dieing.

How could you let a face like that die?

Your first point about the Arbiter. People's feelings about which character they play are not solely based upon gameplay, but the character itself. I personally loved the Arbiter, but I can see how people may find it hard to identify with him, he's got mandibles for a start! Plus, he is the enemy. How many WW2 games have you seen where you play as the Axis? This is because people don't like playing as the enemy. I suspect (hope) this will change in H3 as the Arbiter begins to side with the Humans against the Prophets.

As to your second point, the MC popping his clogs at the end of the story. People love a story where the hero dies. It's just human nature. Plus, if he did die, sacrificing himself to save humanity, it would fit well with many of the religious themes that run through the series. But I don't know if he will die or not. That's what I love about Bungie, the story is not all obvious, there are twists yet to come =)

Chief has yet to be injured in a game. We know him to be practically invincible. It wouldn't be nice to see him die as easily as that.

Arbiter rocks, through and through!

Yeah, but all the people who complain about the Arbiter should be happy that is the extent of the Arbiters role in Halo 2. Orginally there was a lot more Covenant stuff going on in the game, but it was taken out of Halo 2 because:

We felt like we were trying to sell the Covenant side of things, too much.

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

i wouldn't like it if either died, but it would be just like a great movie where the hero(s) die at the end to save everyone else, sparking emotion, not only because they have died but because its the end of one of the best videogame series of all time.

He doesnt take off is helmet, it has to get like half of it blown away so we just see like one of his eyes and a bit of his face.

i personally don't want either to die but one will die considering that its always good to see someone die heroicly than die pittyfully on your knees
