I will own everyone in Halo: Reach

If you've read Glasslands you know about the Infinity, which is the first Human ship with Forerunner technology. My Q is, do you think it could beat a single covenant ship in a 1v1? We know the Covenant has used Forerunner tech since ages, and humanity has been experimenting with it just since some decades. Do you think it could beat a Covenant ship? What kind of tech do you think it has? Shields? Better slipspace? Energy weapons?

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

It's still experimental. I'd wager it could, but who knows.

I heavily suspect that it actually could defeat a Covenant cruiser.

I guess you could say that it's possible it could win.

Like what?
"Oh hey honey im going to virtually destroy oh.... 10 or so interplanetary species and hopefully become a god after I have a cataclysmic suicide!"

A small frigate or destroyer I believe it could hold it's own, but an extended fight it would be tested.

Put someone like Preston Cole at the helm and hell. Infinity could take on an 20 Covenant ships.
But no really, I'm sure it could take one battle cruiser down with no problems.

Depends on how much better the UNSC is at reverse engineering Forerunner tech. As we know, Covenant tech is a fraction of a fraction of what real Forerunner tech is capable of. If the Infinity incorporates actual Forerunner technology, yes, it could take on more then 1.

Keyes took out 3 ships with just a destroyer. It comes down more to the circumstances than the ship it's self. But i believe that the Infinity bieng 3km long and obviously more powerful that a marathon or valiant class cruiser it probably be able to hold it's own but it depends on what ships it caries and how many missles, MACs nukes it has and waht rating or armour it has.

About me: I am a vicious wolf of a man.

But really am sweet at heart. =)

Doubful. The Infinity is simply a technology demonstrator, probably with just enhanced Slipspace and reactor technologies. Which would be able to fire a MAC gun rather quickly, it wouldnt have the weaponry to defeat a Covenant vessel.

Yes I think it could be possible.

Hey, now!

This is officially either the greatest or worst thing to ever happen to Star Wars. I'm going with the former.

Without the specs for the ship, we can't say. We don't know it's weapon complement, armor, size, speed, etc.

I am a monument to all your sins

it could probably take a mid-sized covenant ship (assuming it has sheilds), but it's impossible to say really.

  • 04.07.2012 11:06 PM PDT

Why are you here?

Probably.

"I may not be perfect, but always been true."

It all comes down to the Covenant ship hitting or missing with it's Energy Projector, I doubt that it can resist that attack.

Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien.
Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar.
tenn' Ambar-metta!

I would go with the Covenant, they have energy shields, I don't know about this infinity.

Don't do anything you wouldn't want to have to explain to paramedics. Trust me, I'm a pilot.

It's certainly possible, given that the Infinity has incorporated a lot of Forerunner tech into its' design.

If you're passionate about the thing you're talking about, I'll always lend an ear.

So what? The covenant has forerunner technology incoporated in their ships too.

It's a major war asset but I wouldn't go as far as making it the "be all and end all ship" that humanity aspires towards in a ship on ship battle as we don'know the extent of the circumstances and the extent of forerunner technology that benefits both parties.

An assassin will always carry on, even after death.

The Infinity could easily decimate a small Covenant ship and would be a good match with a super carrier.

So...a 3km long ship is a good match against a 28km long ship?

-Steel unload, final blow
We the animals take control
Hear us now, clear and true
Wretches and kings we come for you

Yes.

And speaking of Infinity, that is what the multiplayer for Halo 4 is called.
