I recently purchased a microphone, however I am unable to get it to work.

Does anyone know what I'm supposed to be doing?

I can get sound through the headset, but when I try to set up the mic, nothing happens.

I don't know how I can help you, because you use a Mac. However, does your microphone support Macs?

Oh, I'm retarded, because of your avatar, I assumed you were ZC Tango. My bad.

In that case, go online and check out the site for the manufacturers who created your microphone, and they might help you there.

Sort of. I've got an application that spews out random phrases, and I copy-paste them into these forums. :)

Alot of cases have mic ports on the front but you need to specify that your using it. It's somewhere in the sound setup it's different for each soundcard/motherboard. That could be it.

OK, I guess you have checked the obvious, i.e. it's plugged in the correct place. ?

Second, if you are using XP(?), go to Volume Control, Options Tab, Properties, and make sure the 'Microphone' is checked. This is unchecked by default, This should allow you to switch the microphone on as it is off by default.
Hope this helps,
