Subject: Whatever happened to the UNSC ARMY?!?!

Just a factual question: I really am curious whatever happened to the UNSC Army. How could the marines, a smaller faction, replace the armies of every country in the world? Did the army soldiers just retire :) ?

thanks whoever answers!

I am pretty sure I learned that the rebels were not the US Amry, just some factions from other countries. Anyway, my guess is the Army troops became space marines. Please some1 with actual information post!!!

i think with earth having an actual empire throughout several systems, the army just kinda phased out or merged with the marine corps with lack of need. this also brings up where the air force went

The military is called the Marines because when they refer to space it is a "sea" so its in the Navy's jurisdiction(sp?) so they are called Marines. Earth is all one united country remember?

O ya cuz Marines operate from ships, do landings, etc. so it would make sense if they were the military, cuz of the space cruisers. It is kinda an army AND marines force, though. I just like army more!

thank you, someone that makes sense. it's kind of fragmented but the point is there.

The UNSC in Halo is not the United Nations Security Council, but rather the United Nations Space Command formed by the United Nations when over-population on Earth started becoming a problem in the early 22nd century.

That is from halopedia.

All it is that the Armies of the UNSC formed into the Marine Corps. And the Air Forces formed into the Marines, Navy, etc.

The UNSC decided that the average Marine was better than the average G.I.

We don' t know. I guess, there was no need for army. Army remains groundside. What the UNSC needed more are mobile troops. Which are marines. Marines go on capital ships. Plus, you don't know that the army dissapeared. The only place you would really see them are on Metropolis or Outskirts. Both of those had most military units wiped out. But when the finally take out the scarab, you don't know if those men are marine or army. They could look the same.

There are. There are other colonies, remember. It's just Earth is the last known stronghold. For all we know though, there could be another planet with a huge minefield of nuclear mines, 500 capital ships guarding it, 400 MAC stations, and a division of spartans.... Scary.

Well think about it UN, United Nations. There would really be no need for an Army if we all had peace, maybye Ahqbar finally put down his Kalashnikov.

Lol i cant really talk, my last gamertag was Ahqbar The Arab. And for those of you that are gonna ask (they always do) you need a 360 to change your gamertag and you need 800 MS Points and 1000 is $12.50. SO HA!

OK first off, I KNOW the UNSC is not the US only, but I also know that the rebels were not from any particular army in the book, and certainly not all of them. The most logical explanation is the army fell into the marines, and the airforce into the navy, because like it has been said, army would not travel on ships and therefor be left on earth. I am just kinda sick of every futuristic shooter calling its troops marines.

I would not go so far as to say the marines are "better" than the army! but sertainly more useful in a future with space travel and deployment from naval ships is how the troops traveled. That is basicly how marines are deployed today.
