Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Because it wasn't instant.

----They really should have used the SparrowHawk.----

Answer to the Subject Question.

The events of Halo 1 happened very shortley after the end of Halo Reach. At the end cutscene when the Pillar of Autumn is taking off from it's dry dock, after it got into space, it went into a slipspace jump and stopped near Installation 04, the ring you destroy in Halo 1. Hope this answered your question.

This is a response to Tyack's question.

Although you never see him in battle on Reach, he was part of it. He was put into Blue Team, along with Fredrick, forgot what his spartan id was, one unidentified spartan, and Linda-058. Master Chief was put into Cryo Sleep because he had resuced Linda-058 after she got shot by three Plasma Pistol bolts, which penetrated her armor and flesh, all the way to the bone, nearly killing her. One bolt in the arm, one in the chest, and one in the back of the head. She flatlined but was brought back to life shortly after the events of Halo 1. Master Chief was put into Cryo because he had completed his mission, in which case, he is nearly always put into cryo sleep.

KOTOR

I thought it was standard procedure to be put into cryo during space voyages, at least it should be. That ways, the UNSC could get the most out of the Spartan's lifespan

Fred wasn't part of Blue team, he was leader of Red team. The team that went planetside to try to halt the Covenant from destroying the generators for the orbital weapon systems.

Blue Team consisted of John, James and Linda. James EVA module was damaged and propelled him into space. Linda was critically wounded and put into Cryo.

As none of Red Team made it back to PoA and Linda was mortally wounded, Chief was the last Spartan. To help keep him alive, he was placed in cryo.

The events of Halo Reach and the novel Fall of Reach contradict one another greatly. For instance.

The novel didn't have S-IIIs there and according to Ghost of Onyx, they shouldn't of been there. Nor did they use Mjlonir armor or have the capabilities of the S-IIs.

Halsey wasn't found or rescued by S-IIIs but by S-IIs after PoA left the system.

PoA was never on the planet either, it dropped John and Blue team off at a space dock then picked them back up then left. Never went planetside and John wasn't in Cryo until after leaving the system.

However, I believe Bungie/343 have said that the games trump the novels in terms of contradictions. Seems sad they could work a little continuity out.

See you on the battlefield.

The Fall of Reach was on 30 August, while Halo CE starts on 19 September.

That's an 18 day gap, hardly instant.

Chief was in cryo long before the Autumn reached Reach.

While the majority of your post was correct, there was one error. In Halo: Reach, Halsey was escorted to CASTLE base by Jun. Then in the books, Halsey was rescued from CASTLE base by the Spartan-IIs after ordering an unknown Spartan to evacuate the base.

Also, Halsey didn't know Noble Team was made of Spartan III's (as the only other Spartan III's she meets are kids, as opposed to the fully grown members of Noble) as stated by her diary. She just knew they were not her Spartans and supposed ONI had their own secret Spartans or that they might be members of Project: JAVELIN.

(To discuss Halo 4.)

It took exactly 20 days to travel to Installation 04, at around 2.5 (estimate)light years a day, suggesting that 04 is 50 light years from Epsilon Eridani, and a similar distance to Earth.
