Your speed doesnt make a differance to ping (unless its too low, like dial up).
Its latency that makes the ping. For example, he is probably based near the server (when I say near, I mean most likely in the same country), and your further away. I wouldnt bother with a ping of 150+ to be honest.
Your Internet Service Provider also makes a difference. A good ISP wont have many hops to different places, while a bad one might route it to denmark and back.
