343i has stated that if you read the Halo books, you will get more out of the story of Halo 4. While not necessary, reading the books will enrich the experience.

So my questions is...while waiting for Halo 4 how many of you are reading the Halo books?

If you have already read them, hit the first option.

If you are in the processes of reading them, hit the second option.

If you will read them, hit the third option.

If you will NOT read them, hit the fourth option.

Reasons would be nice for your option, but not necessary if you don't want to share.

E.g. "I won't read the books because I only really care about multiplayer"

E.g. "I have already read the books because I love Halo's story!"

I am in the process of reading them. I finished Cryptum, I started Priomordium but got sidetracked with school work, and I probably won't have a chance to get into the Karen Traviss novel until after the semester ends.

I haven't read them but I'm planning on doing it. They seem like good reading material.

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

I haven't read them all, and am not in the process of reading them.

I very much enjoyed the original trilogy. Cole Protocol was great, Ghosts of Onyx was decent, and I liked Harvest so much that I've been somewhere in the middle of it for two years.

I have read Them all, and its definitely worth reading them. The novels add a whole new layer to the story and make the games even better.

For Halo 4 you want to read "Cryptum",then "Primordium" and "Glasslands" ( Although to fully understand Dr Halsey's story arch, you will have to read "The fall of Reach", "First strike" and "Ghosts of Onyx" before reading "Glasslands")

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I've read all the ones that I've wanted to read.

Skipped out on Glasslands and Contact Harvest, though. I couldn't get through Contact Harvest and I heard Glasslands is just a waste.

I read most of them before Bungie sold Halo because Bungie is awesome.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.--Teddy Roosevelt

I just have to read Primordium and The Thursday War when it comes out. Unfortunately, I do not like the direction the author went with in Glasslands. It felt like too much of a retcon.

I've already read them, I love Halo's story and enjoy any extra canon they add.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

If they keep going the route Greg Bear is going, yes.
If they get Eric Nylund to write again, yes,
If they keep going the route Karen Travis went, hell no.

If good looks could kill, I'd be a weapon of mass destruction.

Q: Hey, what did Hitler say to the black jew?
A: Get to the back of the oven.

I've read the original trilogy, Harvest, Ghosts of Onyx, and Primordium.

I only plan on reading the next Forerunner novel. The rest I don't really bother with.

  • 04.11.2012 10:04 AM PDT

I've read the original trilogy, Ghosts of Onyx, Contact Harvest, The Cole Protocol, and Halo Evolutions. Currently reading Cryptum. Next is Primordium.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

I just have to finish Glasslands then I have to pick up Primordium. Though this summer I should re-read the original ones, as I haven't done so in a few years.

I'm in the process of reading them.

Haven't started reading them, but if they're good, I might give one of them a try.

This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends,
This is the way the world ends;
Not with a bang but a whimper.

Your question is based on a faulty assumption. I am not waiting for Halo 4; I am waiting for Destiny. But yes, I have read them.

I support PORYGON.

"Alas poor Yorik, I knew him... IN AMERICA."-Bandit Keith

I have read both Forerunner books, but I am only halfway done with Glasslands. Been really busy lately and I don't have as much time to read unlike before with Cryptum and Primordium.

Read them all, looking forward to the second Travis book before Halo 4 comes out.

You only die once, better make it count.

I just got peer pressured into reading the fall of reach... good so far but I don't suspect I will continue with the series.

I'm currently reading Glasslands. I've already read The Fall of Reach, and the First Strike. I'm going to read Contact Harvest and Ghosts of Onyx, But I don't plan on read any of the Forerunner Saga.
