This thread would have appealed to me more if it was written with crayons.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

Fun fact - if you take each letter in the name HAL and go up by one, you get IBM.

I came for Halo, but I heard the Tru7h, fought thru Carnage, and stayed for Bungie.

After watching Kubrick's The Shinning, I'm not surprised.

I loved the film myself, right up into towards the end.
Then the -blam!- hit the fan for me, and I spent the night trying to work out what I just witnessed.

Also the Simpson's has a hell of allot of references to 2001 and other Kubrick films, Kubrick himself was a fan of the show.

Hilarious. In which case, they went home and told the Kremlin that we had space stations, cryosleep, and the ability to travel to Jupiter in the 1970s.

I need to watch these movies.

2001 is not for everyone. The first 30 minutes feel more like a National Geographic wildlife study. Kubrick's style can be very slow. I first watched 2001 as a kid, expecting Star Wars. It wasn't. Gene Siskel (a legendary Chicago film critic - RIP) once told a story about the first time he saw that film, and overheard two Russians in the audience who thought they were watching a documentary about the US space program.
I could imagine the Soviets reaction if they believed it almost as well as they believed "Star Wars" was going to happen. Never stood a chance

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

Does this count as having watched the movie?
