When the Flood can handle a decent conversation.

Or when pigs fly. Your choice.

God I hope not...

I sure hope not. I think what happened in mid June of 2010 speaks for itself on this issue...

I would however like to see a BB Code update, or something, where users could embed their own fileshare items into thread starting posts. That is assuming that Bungie's next game will have a file sharing system (hopefully). Anyways, they did that with the old Halo 3 Files Forums for screenshots, so I don't imagine that it would be very hard to do for their next game.

I actually like this idea a lot.

It only takes a simple question to change everything.

No, and I am very happy that we won't.

We had the ability once..for a night..due to a glitch. May have been the worst experience I've ever had on this website.

Due to the immaturity of others, we cannot have nice things.

How about only members with like Legendary+ can embed? I agree though, its good we cant embed.

Of course.

If by "we" you mean users who will be hired Bungie and added to the webteam. Which, admittedly, is probably not going to be all that many of us.

Yes, but I hope that it's done in such a way that it's only an ability that certain members who can be trusted can have.

Achronos: And what's this about a "design team" I've been hearing? Apparently stosh is so awesome he's now considered a "team".

Interesting...

I do not believe that we will ever have the ability to post images. We are too immature and those who seem immature are just good at hiding their immaturity.

Which raises the question: how do you differentiate a member who can be trusted and a member who can't?

I wouldn't mind if there was a library of images we ALL could post, that way the type of images allowed would be limited.

Well I would say it would be the Legendary members.

If you look at it like the story of The Three Bears, Legendary members are in the middle so therefor we are just right.

Quantifiable metrics.

For instance:

- How old is an account?
- Does the account have any blacklists or warnings? How many? How many within a period of time?
- How many good reports did the account make? How many bad reports did the account make? Do good reports outweigh bad reports by a certain percentage?

If the account meets particular objective requirements, it can be trusted to use certain features/tools.

Yes Costco. I need a 50lb bag...I mean sack of sugar.

Why give the trolls something they can really just destroy the site with? Bad links/text walls are bad enough, embedded items would be horrible. I'm not a server nut or tech wiz by a long shot, but I would think that the site would suffer after a month or two of people being able to embed because threads on this site never disappear.

That's the negative. I truly do not believe there is a positive. People who want to post images just link directly to them now anyway and that works just fine. Some things are better left to the superusers.

Based on your metrics, would my account be trusted to post pictures?

I don't understand this part. Can you clarify?

Impossible to say since I think this kind of system might take a while to get right in terms of which conditions must be met, for example.

Images take up more space than text. I assume the site's servers can only handle so much traffic, and since everything since the dawn of time on this site is documented, everyone spamming pictures (which is what I think would happen in first month) would start slowing the site down.

Again, I do not claim to know of these things, that just seems to be the logical conclusion in my mind.
