Subject: Tips to improve skill

What are some good ways to improve my skill in Halo?
Just curious.

  • 04.12.2012 12:56 AM PDT

Just some basic tips, I'm not that good myself so my word isn't gospel.

-Play with and against people better then you if possible (searching MLG or Arena should do this).
-Watch MLG Pro's streams.
-Go over your own gameplay in theater. Look at what you could have done to better help your teammates, avoid dying in certain situations et cetera.
-Ignore k/d, playing selfishly to inflate your own stats is often detrimental to the team effort so the sooner you focus on w/l over k/d the better (this does not mean mindlessly rush the objective).
-Keep your composure, nerd raging never achieves anything other then making you play stupidly which leads to unnecessary deaths.
-Then there are the basics, improve aiming (important but aiming will only get you so far. Playing smart is by far the most important aspect of a good player), learn weapon timers and the such.

- Play smart
- Don't sit in the back of the base with the sniper
- Be agressive when you have control of the map and power weapons
- Don't pull the flag when less than half the opposing team is dead
- Teamshoot
- Callout
- Press RT to shoot.

passive aggressive style.

What does this mean?

It is honestly spouted way too much. You should never want to be passive-aggresive. Your team should always want to be the aggressor. Being passive-aggresive means that your team is being pushed back and you are waiting to regain control.

That is good that you try and fight back, but you should try and always be the attacking team.

OP, what exactly do you want to improve?

Getting a better shot is much easier than becoming a smart player. If you just want to have a better DMR, play alot of octagon or customs against people better than you. You will basically be forced to do better so you dont get left behind.

If playing a team game, calling out helps out the team. If the team is in line, you will find it is much easier to do better in games

I'm sorry America is busy helping others in the world and actually making a difference.

Something Canada will never do.

We have been raised for combat...
We carry our banner to our fights...
Alone we are a menace, together we are a threat...
Born to raise hell, live to drop back in it...
Never retreat, never surrender... we are spartans.

-Keep your wits
-Always think things through
-Keep your eyes on the motion tracker (if you have one) to keep a solid idea of what you might face
-If you don't know what you can do to win in a game involving objectives, do probing attacks to find out which area is the least guarded.
-Use your teams tactics to complement your own. A team rushing one side can easily provide a distraction for you to attack from behind.
-ALWAYS pay attention to what your opponent is doing. If you don't want to get caught off guard, this is a good way to do it.
-Try to develop good ears, sometimes you can get a good idea what's happening behind if you're using scoped weapons.
-DON'T disregard any weapon. ALWAYS keep your options open.

That's pretty much all I can say.
Hope it helps.

If you want to be a good player, you have to know which weapons to absolutely disregard unless there's no other choice (meaning you're totally out of ammo). These weapons are the AR, Spiker, and Plasma Repeater and Rifle.

I'm not racist, I own a colored TV

In order to play better than half the people that play halo:

1. Look at your TV while playing
2. Make sure your controller is turned on while playing

Hope I help. Good luck

passive aggressive style.

What does this mean?

It means to be aggressive in situations where doing so will benefit your team and passive in situations where aggression won't benefit you.

It's situational. You need to play for a long time to learn when you should do things.
