no, the fleet was small because it was just a scouting group not an attack group, they didnt know humans would be there.

and earth is where the ark happens to be at, it wasnt destined to be an activation spot for halo's and even if it was the covenant wouldnt know that.

Yeah, well, you know how a human stone led the covvies to Halo, well another probally led them to Earth, or "The Ark" if you MUST call it that.

Umm, yes they did! Helllo! The Oracle kind of already gave them that information, and would have gave it to the Arbiter and Sgt. Johnson too..... Until that cutscene conveniently ended..... The Oracle were with the Prophets for quite a while, along with 343 Guilty Spark.

I am...whimsical today.

The books do not exactly mirror the Game :( its tough to tell where to draw the line. Even if the books are completely true, then why would the Covenant jump to Earth with such a small fleet, if they thought they were going to need a massive one?

It was small because they did not know the Human's lived on Earth.

The fleet was small because the Covenant hadn't known where Earth was, they more than likely found something out about the big thing in Africa and left to see it or activate it or some -blam!-. The force was small, more than likely to not draw attention to themselves, and thought that there would only be small parties if any on the planet. Everything has an answer if you think on it, and this is a realy REALY simple answer.

listen to cortana during regret

  • 05.31.2006 3:23 PM PDT

OMFG you guys are all wrong. They send a small group at first so they could prepare and adapt to what Chuck Norris would do. They needed to force his hand, and at the exact same time not take too many casualties.

Besides the fact that Cortana explained to us why the fleet that came to Earth was puny, your logic has holes. First, we never had confirmation that there was even a prophet in that battle fleet, and if there was, where would he be? In the biggest, baddest ship the of the lot, which was blown up, along with almost all of the rest of the battle group. It might have been Regret's successor's fleet, but it sure as hell wasn't Regret's.

It seems rather obvious at this point in time, that the Covenant are more concered about Forerunner technologies, and "clensing" EVERTHING from the galaxy, rather than only humans. The Covenant came to Earth for other reasons than to just kill humans.

A small fleet would lead the way, and when they see that humans are already there, the expect resistance, and bring in more "back up".

Well now, I didn't think Guilty Spark was the Oracle, I thought the Oracle was the monitor for the Delta Halo installation... anyway...

What I meant is that the fleet that arrivated at halo was an excavation fleet... those ships were not warships! The warships look like Truth and Reconsiliation, if thats how you spell it. Anyway, it is my opinion that 343 Guilty Spark told the prophets that "Earth" was where the Arc was. Not that they said Earth, they probably just gave them the location. Then the Covenant send out a force to excavate the Arc, not knowing it was the Human's homeworld...

Ugh.. Did I clear that up?

Really now, the Covenant got hold of 343 guilty spark after they came to Earth, the Covenant already knew the coordinates to Earth some way, unless Bungie pulled a Tarantino on us.

How ahh, Irresponsible. Now i belive you said that the Covenant knew it was the Ark's location. am I right? Well buddy do you remember what they did to a person because he didn't protect a scared ring? Well they nearly killed him, so why do you think they would send a small fleet to the Ark's location. Well they woulden't, actually they would probley bring the armada.

Any way my theroy is porbley wrong, but it was that the Prophet of Regret was running from the other Prophets because they accused him of high Treason. So he runs to this planet thinking it was a small human settlement, he was wrong, so he calls for help in a act to get in the good graces of the Prophets (he found the human home world, if you didn't get that your slow). However they make it through he jumps in the city (to space, to space) then he finds the Halo, the Prophets reexcept him he then loses it to the Chief the Coey bomb him at delta. Bomb walla!

Mmmm, I don't think your right. If they were that potent, they would have had the armada protecting the First ring they had, and they didn't, did they? They were attacking reach. That would mean they are more intent on killing humans than protecting the great journey. They sent an excavation force just to find the Ark. The chances of the prophet leaving, and "Happening" to find The Ark, and the human homeworld are slim to none. But probably just none.

Proof? PROOF? HAHAHAHA OMFG!!
The proof is the game, dude. Earth is attacked in the first missions of H2. The Covenant don't get 343 until the end of the Arbiter missions. Omg!

That's the only thing I've seen where the books and games conflict. There could be an explanation, though.

Turn west on Broadway, and right at the second light on Welchester Road. There is a dirt path about a 1/4 mile way up, turn onto it. When you hit the interstate 56 sign pull back onto the road. From there take the road 38 miles towards Wisconsin. Get off at Exist 73 and take that street to Vermont Road, and take a left at the stop sign. Go down that street to the fifth house on the left. Go into the backyard and open the shed. There you will find my leaf blower, its yours to keep.

well all i know is that the covenant found earth in the books from a spying device that was attached to one of the human battle ships and thats how they found out. also the fleet that was goin to earth to fight or aid in fighting was all but distroyed.
it would make sence if the fleet the MC distroyed was only part of the invation and the higher arc ships came from some where else.
