Ahhh I can see it now.

Year: 2634
Location: Chicago

Six men with Thompsons step calmly out of a pair of cars. One steps forward. "Don Halsey sends his regards!" They all begin to fire and the opposing men are torn to ribbons.

Doesn't the Covenant have very advanced tracking systems? So I think they would be led right to the Ark.....and how can they "accidentally" land in Chicago if their destination is Africa? Unless.....
unless global warming has caused continental shifting.

Well as it says in the Foundation description that "Deep in Chicago Industrial Zone 08 lies the decommissioned Tactical Autonomous Robotic Defense System testing facility" that could have shot down the ship.

Key word: "decommissoined."

Key words: "testing facility."

If it's decommisioned, how can it do anything?

Maybe someone activates it.

I don't exactly think you can just "activate" something thats decomissioned... especially during an inter-steller war, and fight for survival in your very own homeworld..

:p

Plus, "decommissioned" almost invariably means "melted down and used for raw materials." No idea why the Foundation test room was an exception; probably, that room just hasn't been cleared out yet. Of course, the things in one of the rooms having "abandon in place" on them suggests something sinister enough that it's to risky to even clean out. Gamma ray testing, mebbey?

i dont think everything bungie puts in the game has a purpose towards the plot i was playing oblivion today and i came across a troll floating under a bridge who had a suicide note and a bottle of booze on him but i did not think it affected the plot of the game

That is Oblivion, this is Halo. Bungie even said that for Halo 2 every multiplayer map will be recognizable from campaign, and the only level that is not is Foundation which you get after you beat campaign, so it would only make sense that it will have something to do with Halo 3.

Now someone is going somewhere with this.

And where does lockout fit into your theory? Will there be a cliffside base level in halo 3?

Digging too deep maybe?

Ehh, you could be right, im not very open to new ideas

hey man guess what?

AMERICA IS NOT THE ONLY -blam!- COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET THE -blam!- OVER YOURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey man guess what...he made a good point. America is also where bungie is based at. mAbye they through a little Partiotism in the game. I dont really think Chicago will have anything to do with the game but your pointless anti-american slander just for the sake of being anti-american is annoying.

Really...it's not like the vast majority of the time on Earth is spent in Africa...Bungie's totally racist against Americans!!! OMG!!!

You know, your theory actually makes sense. Congrats for being one out of perhaps a dozen members who actually have an intelligent, backed up theory...

Thank you, but my theory is always shadowed by people making completely unintelligent posts about random things and just spam & flam people.

Nice theory, and you've got some supporting details, unlike most of the repetetive, unreasonable, unenforced crap people post in this forum.

I'd certainly love to play in Chicago. I'd heard (Early Development.), that we were going to California, L.A., Detroit, and some other places, in Halo 2. This was also when the "Saving the world", was still thought of as the games plot/purpose... Imagine L.A. in 500 years. XD The Covenant wouldn't even want to go near that stuff.

I never heard of that, do you know of any source, like a link, thats says this because that sounds really interesting.

Unfortunately, no. After a new computer, several formats, and Halo 2 having already come out, and finding out that it wasn't true, I've lost the bookmarks. :D
There was also sopposed to be plasma-grenade manual delay, 1337 AI (Not that it's bad, it's just not as good as it was said to be.), sprint, lean, single shot, defending earth, massive battles, AI that can drive, and... Ah well you get the point![/Beast]

Edit: Go back to New Mombassa, and go immediately to the very first page of posts there, and look at the wacky stuff people were saying. :) We'll be doing that for this forum, in a few years.

I grew up.

This is I believe the second theory I will keep my eye on, there was only one other here at the forums that I am watching. Nice supporting statements, but it seems kind of hazy. I guess we'll find out with more updates.
