Subject: Bungie App coming to Windows Phone?

This world wants to drag you down... And the weight, that guilt they want to hang around your neck, you don’t have to carry it one more step. You think they won’t let you rest, but it’s not up to them. It never was.

Does anyone else want the Bungie App to come to WPhone? WP is the only phone I'm interested in, other than the extortionately priced iPhone. I'm sure there are other Bungie fans with this phone too.

Can we expect the Bungie App for Windows Phone at some point? Thanks.

Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

I'm happy with my Android, but I see no reason why the application should not also be developed for Windows Phone.

I'm sorry, but Windows Phone is a joke.

It only stands as a failed attempt from Microsoft to compete in the smartphone market.

If Bungie wants to waste their time creating a Bungie application that is compatible with Windows Phone, they can by all means. However, if they decide not to, they would only hurt a very small minority of smartphone users.

That's how I look at it. Sorry if I offended anyone who owns a Windows Phone.

I fail to see your incredibly biased logic.

I have an HTC WP7. Do you know what device I use to post on B.Net? That's right, my WP7. I don't need an app for this phone because it's ahead of most phones in such a way that an app for this site would only slow me down.

I rarely post on any other device than my phone.

Currently it is a failure, all the market share reports I've seen place it in the single digits. In this report its even below RIM. From a market standpoint, A Bungie App could reach a larger audience on a Blackberry rather than a Windows Phone.

And the hardware itself is far behind other phones from a technical standpoint. MS mandates specific hardware standards that haven't been raised to match the advancement in technology.

Even though I don't have a Windows Phone, I fully support the Bungie Mobile app to come to it.

I'll pop in with a "yes please" on this.

I'll also mention that the haters probably haven't used one for more than a few seconds...they're pretty awesome and are gaining mindshare very quickly.

P.S. Deathcon, the hardware spec argument is a tired one. Once I notice my gen 1 WP7 lagging or experiencing problems, I'll start complaining about the "low standards" they have (at least they have some to begin with).

To put it into perspective why this would be an utter waste of time, this thread doubled my known users of Windows phones on bungie.net. Congratulations, it now stands at about 10.

Edit: And thats being generous and assuming everyone in this thread that seems strongly in favour uses a WP.

You fail to understand Microsoft.

Windows Phone will succeed, just like Internet Explorer took out Netscape (ironically, AOL owned Netscape and used IE as it's web browser in the AOL software), Office took out WordPerfect and LotusNotes, and XBOX knocked Sega out of consoles and put Sony at #2 in consoles after 360 was released.

Why?

Microsoft's Mantra: We don't innovate anymore. We take what others did, slap a Windows logo on it and profit.

So with WP8 being made to work with Win8 and XBOX 360, it will succeed, eventually overtaking Droid while emulating Apple's overzealous simplicity in interface and protected networking for apps, data and whatever else Steve Jobs made them do with iPhone. (Known as an ecosystem. Google may make an OS, but normal people won't download it since they already have Win or iOS. Example: look at Linux/Unix.)

Aside from Zune (which failed because MS didn't create a content source like Apple did for the iPod with iTunes, and is only doing better because of the 360), this is how Microsoft does things. Their venture with Nokia now makes it more likely to take market share from Google in the Smartphone wars simply because they now have a platform to undercut on price.

Learn your history bro. I grew up watching MS do this, and they'll do it again and again.

OT: yes, Bungie should make a WP7 and WP8 app, and Bungie should include a mobile-version of the forums in a future version of the Droid, WP and iPhone apps.

I don't care for the app, but Windows Phone is EXCELLENT, so I can't see why it shouldn't be made.
I love my Lumia, btw.

Also, haters gonna be ignorant.

Lumia ftw! Wish it had a little more in the area of customization.
I love the fact that its integrated with just about everything I use zune, xbox, netflix etc.

Loath the fact that I can't have a custom text tone >:[ Unless anyone knows something I don't; in which case do tell.

Yea, I don't like using it, because WP7 (like iOS) is heavily optimized for the hardware. However, I raised it to counter the claim that WP7 was ahead of most other phones.

BTW with Nokia doing WP7 hardware, WP7 is much more promising that it was before.
