Subject: Why is bungie not porting there free games to alpha one?

Some of you may already have the marathon games on freeware I myself have them on pc but you may be wondering why they aren't working on porting the rest of there free games to alpha one (alpha one for those of you that don't know is where bungie posted marathon for download when it became freeware). If any of you have an Idea just put it on the forum or if any of you out there are actually from bungie mabey you would like to give us an explanation.

to download The marathon trilogy for those of you who haven't already here is the URL http://marathon.sourceforge.net/

I know they are possibly working on a game who hasen't seen there add that had a hand holding a ps3 but all they really need to do is to rewrite the code just enough for newer pcs and macs to us it.

What other free games? I'm no Aleph One historian, nor am I in any way connected to the people responsible for Aleph One. However my understanding of Aleph One is this:

Aleph One is a third party program based on the original source code of Marathon 2. It was created and is maintained entirely by hardcore Marathon fans. Bungie has nothing to do with Aleph One. Aleph One predated Bungie's release of the entire Marathon Trilogy as freeware.

Because Aleph One was based upon the Marathon 2 source code, it is also able to run Marathon Infinity, but not Marathon 1. The Aleph One compatible version of the original Marathon (called M1A1), is a complete conversion of the original Marathon game into the Marathon 2 engine. Those who have played both the original Marathon on Mac and the newer M1A1 will notice several small yet significant differences between the two.

To my knowledge, the only Bungie games which have become freeware in (addition to the Marathon Triligy) are Gnop, Abuse, and Pathways into Darkness. None of these games are compatible with Aleph One. Some hardcore fans have tried to produce a conversion of Pathways into Darkness for Aleph One, but to date the project has not been completed.

In addition, Bungie no longer owns the rights to any of their games after Marathon Infinity. The rights to Myth, Myth II, and Oni are all owned by Take 2 Interactive. Halo is owned by Microsoft. It is my understanding that even if Bungie were interested in redeveloping or expanding on these old series, they longer have the legal right to do so.

Aleph One was built by fans to run the Marathon Trilogy. It does that very well. It is not some magical emulation program created by Bungie to run all of their old, now free Mac games on current computers.
