A "Close Thread" option if you started a thread that has gone, shall we say, bad. ie, Flame Warz, Idiot posters, racist comments, etc.

Bungie has given us a great environment to speek our piece, but nothing is perfect. Moderators make mistakes, posters make mistakes, etc. This forum is dedicated to suggesting improvments in the next forum update. Please not that Bungie has no obligation to listen to our suggestions, but I feel that key changes can be made if we as a community demand them.

I would propose the followning:

1: A search bar so we can find burried topics we want to discuss instead of opening a new thread

2: A delete comment / delete thread option. I keep seeing "delete me, duplicate post" threads taking up space.

3: A feedback system for members of the community. Some sort of respectability system to reduce flaming or make flamers easily identifyable

Posters in this thread have proposed the following:

4: A close thread option for legitimate discussions that have become a flame war - ZC Tango

5: A spellcheck feature that ignores html markups - Douglas Brown

6: A Bungie.net Friends List - Budwiser Man 1

7: Notification Emails when your threads are locked, deleted, or moved - HBNDonut

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

1) A search function is coming Soon™.

2) Members really don't need that sort of power. If they made a mistake, a moderator will come to clean it up soon enough. If their thread is a flamewar, they can contact a moderator and ask them to lock it, or clean it up. There is no real need for a member to be able to delete/lock their own posts.

3) I believe Achronos said it was a possibility, but one that would require too much work to create, since any system would be abused by other members. You know, if someone doesn't like you, they give you bad feedback, even if you did nothing wrong. Achronos would have to create a system from scratch that could not be abused (which seems pretty much impossible).

This feature is apparently in the works, or so we've been told. It's been proposed. It's been worked on. All we can do is wait. In the meantime, you can use the site:searchstring method.

One can always say that a troll could post spam and then delete it before a moderator catches him, but then again, with the ability to edit posts, this argument doesn't really hold much water. It might help.

Go here. Then download Google Talk, and add bnetmods@gmail.com to your list of friends. That's the fastest way to get in touch with a mod, but they're not always around.

I'd like a "Spell Check" feature, only customized so it doesn't register normal text markup tags as wrong, only misdone tags. I always want to know how to spell a normal word, but the post is so petty that I don't want to open up Word to fix it.

There are bunches of sites where you can download spell checkers, I think.

The Seacrh is coming soon™

I don't think this is necsary. If a post needs to be deleted just contact a mod.

The Problem would be to design a system that could not be abused. There are over a million members here, and there are plenty of people that would give people bad feedback that they did not deserve.

dude, you pulled a jesus!

I'd really like to see a B.net "friends list". That way I know who's on when I get on, rather than take a blind stab in the dark and PM someone hoping they're online.

You could always add the people you want to your instant messanger. I would like to see a "contact a Ninja" button. this would message an online moderator so you can quickly report bad threads, such as -blam!- links and spam, and get them locked or deleted.
