Per Audacia Ad Astra

"Is this what we've been looking for?"
"Yes. Notify the commander, pick-up is authorized."
The elite activated a transmitter on his left arm.
Seconds later he received audio from his command.
"Keep the area secure, a phantom is en route."
"Understood." The supreme elite officer, Aeban K'itan, grabbed the Sigrat and exited the Forerunner chamber. Several other elite soldiers were positioned around a large construct, some on ramps - others in what appeared to be a courtyard.
"Squad, we have acquired the Sigrat. Keep the area under control. Scouts, what is the sitrep from your position?"
90ft above, an elite sniper stood guard in an ancient tower that had a 270 degree view of the horizon. He held a beam rifle, and scanned his available view.
"All clear."

A minor elite replied, "another clean mission, if only every mission was like this."
"Yes! No Spartan interruptions for 5 months running."
K'itan intervened. "Don't keep your hopes up. The longer we wait for another Spartan attack, the more likely they will actually attack us."
The scout looked at his HUD, "phantom ETA is 10 minutes." Then his neck was snapped.
"Affirmative. Squad, follow me to the extraction point."
The elites all gathered and followed K'itan to an open area in front of the Forerunner construct.
Beyond the ancient metal, at the end of the entrance ramp, a vast desert consumed the rest of the visible ground, and the heatwave wobbled the horizon line violently, blending the orange sand with the pale blue sky.
"I can see why they positioned the Sigrat out here." An elite stated.
"This used to be an ocean, that's why they put it here."
"Hmph, hard to believe."

"K'itan, where is the sniper?" A soldier noticed.
K'itan looked at his squad, they were all looking around them too, then he looked up at the guard tower. The scout was gone.
"Scout, where are you?"
All he heard was the wind rushing by.
"I want two soldiers to check that guard tower. Everyone else, follow my lead."
The two elites ran back up the ramp.

"Target aq-" Plasma rifle shots were heard. The attention of K'itan's group rushed towards the guard tower ramp.
"Commander, we have enemy activity at the Sigrat site."
"Do not fail me, K'itan. We need that Sigrat."
K'itan's squad was on edge. It was likely a Spartan that had killed his scout, and now his two other soldiers. So he activated his energy sword and stood guard whilst his minor soldiers checked the guard tower ramp.
"Look for ripples in the air." He glared up at all the higher platforms around him, and down directly at the intimidating corridors. There were no hints at where the Spartan could be.
"I see ripples in the air! One elite shouted.
K'itan sprinted to his position and looked in the direction that his minor soldier was aiming.

"There's nothing there."
The minor fired his plasma rifle in the general direction of where he saw the camouflage ripples. Each plasma round scorched the Forerunner walls at the end of the balcony.
"Squad, patrol this balcony until the phantom gets here."
His 8 remaining soldiers lined up equally around the balcony above 4 courtyards. In between them stood the Sigrat chamber where K'itan had picked up the Sigrat which now sat in place on his back, held between two gravity holsters.
"I have a visual!" A minor soldier began firing down off of the balcony and at one of the courtyards. Several others aimed in the same direction and opened fire.
One of the plasma rounds hit a shielded object, and a Spartan silhouette was revealed.
"There it is! Kill the Demon!"
All soldiers including K'itan fired at the Spartan, but it dived out of the line of fire and returned to invisibility.
"NO! Do NOT lose the Spartan!" K'itan noticed the phantom in the distance. "The Phantom is here, squad - head back to the extraction point."
The elites stormed down the balcony's ramps and headed for the open desert where the phantom would land.
Suddenly, a frag grenade bounced off the pillar in between the elites and the extraction point.
"Evade!" Several elites dived away from the grenade.
BOOM! Two elites were thrown about like ragdolls, and before the other elites could make any decisions, the Spartan revealed itself holding a shotgun and fired straight into the group.
K'itan lunged at the Spartan with his energy sword, but it ducked under the swing and gave K'itan a powerful uppercut.
THUD. It was a serious blow to K'itan's abdomen, but he shook it off and blocked the Spartan's next punch. The rest of the squad attempted to grab the Spartan by his limbs, and eventually wrestled him down - taking his shotgun off of him.

It took the minor elites all their strength to hold down each limb of the Spartan, and K'itan held down the Spartan's right leg with slight struggle.
"Let's see to it that you don't bump into us ever again, hmm?" K'itan held his energy sword up high, looking at the Spartan's leg.
The muffled scream of the Spartan was heard, but just before K'itan sent the energy sword downward, a sniper round hit the back of K'itan's head, knocking him forward and letting go of the Spartan's leg.
As K'itan fell forward from extreme recoil, and the other elites looked up, the Spartan kicked K'itan in the head, almost certainly knocking him out as he fell to the ground.

Before the elites could grab for their plasma rifles after holstering them to hold the strong Spartan, another round shot one of them in the head and the Spartan grabbed his shotgun from beneath him. The elites holding his left leg and arm decided to let go to shoot him, but they received the full power of the shotgun blast. The Spartan was back on his feet.

Down to 3 soldiers, the elites noticed their officer unconscious and could not leave without him. By now the phantom was very close to the extraction point, but the elites knew that window of time was enough for the Spartans to steal the Sigrat.
"Don't let the Demon get the Sigrat!" One elite shouted.
They couldn't use their plasma grenades too close to K'itan, so they threw as much plasma rounds at the Spartan as possible.
The Spartan threw itself into cover, which gave the elites a sense of victory. But they were also aware of a second enemy, so one looked above and behind them - plasma grenade ready.

As K'itan regained consciousness, slowly, he stumbled toward his squad. The Spartan blindfired from behind the wall, trying to shoot K'itan in the back.
"Get to the extraction point!"
Back on both legs, K'itan guided his 3 minor elites to the phantom. The phantom's turret delivered covering fire for the squad, K'itan got aboard with the Sigrat and was out of sight.
One elite was shot in the back by another sniper round, then another. The final minor elite managed to board the phantom before getting shot. The Spartans had failed to retrieve the Sigrat.
"Get this phantom away from them!" K'itan shouted at the pilot. The phantom began drifting away from the Forerunner construct.

Around 15 seconds later, the second Spartan revealed itself, and joined the other Spartan. Both of them were a dark olive colour. One with a shotgun, the other with a sniper.
The elite controlling the phantom could see them, two little green figures.
"They're like BUGS from up here!"
"Commander, open fire on the Sigrat construct. The UNSC has two Spartans there, they failed to take our Sigrat."
The Commander elite opened up a holographic map back at the control centre and saw the small moving dot as the phantom. Near the dot was a highlighted area - the Sigrat construct.
He hovered his finger over the construct and gave it three taps. A large purple circle appeared over the construct's area.
Back at the construct, the Spartans saw a huge Covenant ship high up in space moving towards their position.

They ran down back into the construct, both of them prepared their bubble shields 3 levels below the solid ancient floors and waited for the loud bang.
It took around 12 minutes for the spaceship to get to their position, and seconds after it did - a glare of light reached around the corner. The loudest bang they had ever heard vibrated the walls and floor for a whole 2 minutes - the bubble shields were activated.

K'itan looked down at the beam of energy, shining brightly like a rod of diamond constantly slamming into the construct.
"Good riddance."

Kept me seated for quite some time. Do you intend to make more?

If you're willing to hear criticism/answer questions,

Could you clarify on what time this is happening? Or if it's connected to main Halo lore? Canonically, Elites wouldn't be calling Spartans 'Spartans' or even recognizing the UNSC until after the Great Schism.

Also, are you going to add characterization? The commands and responses thing is quite prevalent in Reach, which made it kinda monotonous. Canonically, Elites are quite dramatic these days.

Per Audacia Ad Astra

This happened during the long conflict between the Covenant and the UNSC, which lets me keep my stories as widely spread as I want. I tried making the Elites seem serious rather than dramatic, and whilst I was writing I found myself to be writing the equivalent of a human squad's behaviour so I understand you there. Good feedback, I have a better idea of how Elites should really react in such a situation.

I'll definitely make more of these stories, this one took about 30 minutes.
