Well, here we are. I guess that it was destined to come to this.

I can't find mine.

Alright smarta....oh hey. Um. Yea. Hehe.
OT: Does anything happen for you all when someone clicks the report button? Or no?

All that I can tell you is what has been said before.

When a sufficient number of members have clicked on report (and I believe that the trigger number is forum-specific and meters up/down based on forum volume/traffic) it goes to a report queue where it is assigned to us, reviewed by us, and acted on.

That response of ours can be nothing, a post, a warning, a ban, or if the reports were not validated by our review of the post and the ninja suspects report-button-shenanigans, we can deal with the shenaniganery and the shenaniganers.

Canada isn't that important that it needs two of the same threads on page one.

Sounds pretty damn sophisticated for just one button. So I take it you get the list of those who clicked the report button too? And there must be specifics pertaining to what mods get the report, because there is always the chance that a mod is just logging off as they get the report, and it is never tended to? (We all know what that could mean in The Flood...)

So, one other question I have then; Would it be acceptable to post "report and move on," and not be spamming, because it takes more than one reporter to get things to get moving. Of course, that sort of post would only be reasonable if the post to be reported really deserved the reporting, and it wasn't just some shenaniganer up to some shenaniganery.

(I lied, one more question. What's up with your Avatar?)

I got warned for telling someone that they posted in the wrong forum, so no, it is not possible.

Also, his avatar has been like that for a while.

I've said as much as I am capable of. My reply is accurate, but only has details to the level that the webteam has made public comments about. I can't and won't say more than they have. I hope that you can appreciate my position on the matter.

Personally and honestly? I don't think that the posts of "report and move on" are helpful to anyone. They still bump the topic. People who want to post "report and move along" should be following their own good advice.

Fair enough, I'll keep that in mind from now on. It's a fair view on the subject.

Edit: Alright, I've figured it out. You have a changing avatar (gif). xD I've never noticed that before, is all. Sorry.

I use the report button whenever I think a post might be breaking the rules, and I believe the post is worth one of the actions a moderator can take.

yeah this reminds me of the time i got sent to jail for stealing crocs from target becozs i wanted all of the colors because i only got the green wons for my birthday and i wanted more ;)

Shock sites and obvious trolling.

Question: Is reporting long posts of empty space appropriate? You know the ones, the posts where you have to scroll through an empty post for five minutes because someone held down their enter key.

  • 04.14.2012 4:55 PM PDT

In all honestly only when I visit the Flood. It's amazing how off-topic people can get in an 'Off-Topic' forum.

Pretty much any time a post deserves to be locked/removed.

Yes; it's spam, annoying enough for you to ask and doesn't help anyone.

If a post violates the rules I report it. If it cointains bad links I PM ninjas.

How often do you see a quick response in action when you PM a Mod?

Not too often but one time I pm'd Foman and said in the thread that was violating the rules "The ninja's are coming! The ninja's are coming!" and the guy qouted me and said something along the lines of "No they are not." In which Foman qouted him and I don't remember what he said but it was funny. I have seen quick response about 5 times.

So you play to the idea of "Reporting will eventually hide this post."

I think that if there was an incentive for reporting bannable posts, more people would do so and this place would be much nicer.
