Is there anywhere that I can go to play a fair game of CTF , where cheaters and hackers are excluded. Because the other day I pumped 4 sniper rounds into an opposite team players head and he still killed me, with a flamethrower. And the guys that run around in AC the entire game is BS too. Oh, don't forget the guys with the unlimited ammo!!! I try to go to the servers that I think have fair gameplay, but there's always some punk there that doesn't play fair. So why do they need cheats? My guess is that they suck so bad, that this is the only way they can stay alive. So where are the "fair" sites located? I would like to play a real game online, with serious players, without the cheats. Please direct me to the serious Halo gammers sites/servers. Thanks.

OK first of all, you cannot HACK a normal game of Halo. The only way there could be a hack is if the map is modded. If you play on the Bungie servers, nobody can hack, cause then they wouldnt have the same type of map, so they wouldnt be able to join. Pretty simple. As well as the four headshots thing, stuff happens in Halo PC. The netcode isnt that great. Join the bungie servers and you should be rewarded wih low pings and fair play.

What exactly are the pings for, and why are the pings display. As for the bungie sites, well I still think some are on there with "special" advantages. I do tend to go on the bungie sites more though. Thanks for the response.

Ping is just a measure of how long it takes information to get from your computer to the server and back. It should be the number on the right side of the screen when you're browsing net-games. The lower the number, the faster the connection.

Well, If i've ever got a server running, join mine, coz i'll take supreme vengeance on anyone who hacks or cheats, coz it's just -blam!- unfair for us true players.

Do you agree?? Yey or Naye??

Analog S,
Thanks for the info on the ping. Very interesting stuff.
Since this is my first attempt at an online multiplayer game, I'm curious about these things. I've avoided online gamming because of the very things that I mentioned before. I was a big Mech Warrior fan and was anxious to play online. But when I found out that there were players running around in a 20 ton Mech with 100 tons of armor, well that did it for me.(Almost 10 years ago, WOW) Anyway, it's good to hear that the Bungie servers are, for the most part, fair for now. That's where you will find me. Screen name Bob1. I'll be the guy getting killed every 2 seconds.

Val,
Chalk up a yey for me. Let us know.

Honestly, hacking/modding/cheating arent as big a problem on HaloPC as other PC games *cough*Counter-Strike*cough*.

But It is annoying when the only way you can own people is thru cheating.

i dont know. i have seen several oddities lately.

last night while playing i had a couple of people form a particular clan hit me from behind while i was gaurding the flag. i cannot remember the name of the map, but its the one where you have the cave complex with the flags outside and on top of a platform.

in one case i could see where they might have snuck through the caves. the second time, though, i had clear view of both entries to over the flag and got hit behind the back.

are there map hacks out there?

also, i have noticed aimbots and wall hacks out there. it really ticks me off.

yeah. i do wish there was punkbuster from time to time.

over all, though, the cheating levels are not as bad as some games. yet. just keep driving on.

by the way, are there map hacks out there? how could someone sneak up like that? ideas?

well let me start off by saying, yes some strange stuff can happpen on halo which can look like cheating, eg if someone has a sudden lag spike they could warp and have killed you before you know what has happened.

i regulary get called a "cheat" but i do not cheat, nor have i ever, this happens to alot of other people in games also, a n00b will call someone a cheat and they dont like it and retaliate. instead these people should take it as a complament, as if a n00b calls you a cheat there basicly saying this

"o wow, your so much better than me, the only way my limited brain can work out how much better you are then me, is if you were cheating"

as for sneaking up on you from behind etc, yes it is possible to use map flaws to your advantage when Team Killing is off, as such it is possible for a team mate to drive into you and throw you up into the air, which would allow you to reach areas you shouldnt be able to, or on the map dangercanyon (which i think you are refering to) it is possible for a team mate to stand by the back wall and be drivern into, this person would then travel straight through the wall, silently, this type of thing is most of what n00bs base there cheating theroies on. they never work out how its done, or take the time and effort to watch someone whos just done it to work out how they did it, but instead create there "cheating therioes" which are quickly spread amungst the ingorant.

now i am not saying you cant cheat on halo, but as someone put it earlier, cheating isnt really a problem in halo

basicly the only way you can which i am aware of it to mod the game, and this would then allow everyone on the server to do the same things.

personally i prefer jolt servers to bungie, for the simple fact that i live in the UK and jolt servers are in the UK, while bungie eu servers are in ireland (i believe). there have been many n00bs calling people cheaters on bungie, and jolt servers but i have never seen one, because (as stated earlier) the only way i am where of to cheat is to mod the game, and this is only on non-dedicated servers and gives everyone the same abilities.

I have definately had some games where for some reason it just seemed like I couldn't die. Rocket would hit me and not kill me - or two grenades would go off near me and again not kill me. I was of course called a hack, but I couldn't tell you how to hack out of a wet paper bag LOL

Other games, I die so bloody fast that I swear I am the only player not modded. So yeah, the netcode is funny and not as consistent as other FPSs

basicly sounds to me as in your 1st paragraph you were playing n00bs and in your 2nd paragraph you were playing people who know how to play properly
