Subject: Why all the hate on Reach?

Looking for clan that isn't too serious? Then join the ODST 501st Airborne Battalion. Go to http://www.501st.forumclan.com for more info.

Almost everyone in every forum on Bungie.net always says Reach is terrible. I have no idea why, it's brilliant. People say the campaign is the worst campaign in any video game ever! Are they insane? The only Halo game with a better campaign is Combat Evolved.

Everyone says the armor abilities are for noobs. These people are idiots, almost every playlist in Reach involves armor abilities, so is every Reach player a noob? It's ridiculous how many people say it's a -blam!- game. It's the same with Halo 4.

When I first heard of Halo 4 I thought, "Well, Halo is ruined." But since I've heard what 343i are doing with it, and after playing CEA, I'm actually looking forward to Halo 4. I just don't understand why everyone thinks Reach is so bad!

I disagree.

I don't think Reach will kill Halo, just that it's not the same, and, as young as I am, I believe Reach is for the new Generation of Gamers. I grew up with Star Fox, Mario 64, the Legend of Zelda and Halo CE, all classics in there own respect. But, the times change, and so must the classics in a sense You run around in Star Fox now, you go into space with Mario, you look like a cartoon in Zelda and you must "Lock your Armor Spartan!" In Reach

Have you read the book? If not, I suggest you do, it's a good read...anyway, on topic now. I read the book and played the game, and in my opinion the game was really...stale compared to the book. In the game it didn't feel like you were fighting for Humanity's Fortress Wold, more like, random outer colony #2 or something of the sort.

Do me a favor. Compare your H3 stats to your Reach stats. Notice something? Good. In Reach you can spawn with Camo. In H3 its a powerup. You went from having to work to get a bonus to being able to spawn with it. Not to mention jetpack and all its cover negating abilities. Reach babies you. None of AA's are balanced. You don't have alot of playtime for someone who loves Reach so much. inb4 flames

Halo 2 > Halo 3 > Halo 3 ODST > Halo Reach > Halo CE

Based on campaigns.

Its becaue default Reach isnt leet MLG pro trueskill deadly serious and competetive, and thats still something to complain about even after the TU.Duh

And the campaign contradicts the books, which is a HUGE disaster. Duh

And firefight sucks because its Reach. Duh

But seriously i agree, Reach is pretty good even if multiplayer has been ruined by butthurt 8 year old kids and deadly serious pros who think everything should be competetive. And i think that Reach is way better than CE campaign but nit as good as 2,3 or Odst

derp.
People don't seem to realise that opinions can be judged too.
Alot of the time judging somebodies opinions is the easiest way to work out their intelligence.

I agree. This is kind of how COD is treated. Little kids and self-proclaimed "MLG" players dont get their way and are not babied so they come to the forums complaining about how the game was not made how they wanted it made. They do that by creating a mask of their intentions. They dont want to admit it outright but rather beat around the bush until someone catches them on it, then it turns into a b**ch fest.

Welcome 1 and all to the gaming world. It used to be a fun place. In the words of the Joker "The lunatics are running the asylum".

I really think you should read through the forums a it before asking what people dislike about Halo: Reach.

The story in my opinion was horrible. There was barely any story to it. It was like a cheap action movie with a lot of fake explosions and gun fights but no plot whatsoever. Take a second to consider all of the Halo fans who have played Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3 just for the story line and imagine how let down they were when they played Halo: Reach, a game that was inconsistent within the plot.

The game also didn't really cater to competitive players as much as previous Halo's used to. In Halo 2 and Halo 3 you had a ranking system where you'd always play with people that were of your skill level or you could play socially against randoms.

In Halo: Reach there was no competitive mode except MLG and the FAIL Arena, every single other playlist in Reach is casual leaving no learning curve for new gamers. This ruined the MLG scene as they're struggling to sell passes at tournaments now.

The bloom also randomized your hits which it unfair and equals uneven gameplay, It was put in to help noobs kill pro's. Things like a bloom narrows the skill gap between players which is why MLG took it out, MLG being purely about skill. Same with the armour abilities, A noob could prolong his death using armour lock or he could run away using sprint or hide using camo. This lead to a lot of noobs getting lucky kills on pro players. Armour abilities were put in to make bad players die less. Again, MLG took this out.

If all Halo: Reach players tried the MLG playlist they'd probably lose and be put off trying it again, Bungie wanted to prevent this happening in Halo: Reach so they made it more casual to appeal to a wider audience.

Although I'm a casual gamer myself, I've never been much good at Halo, It is still sad to see the competitive community die out because Bungie failed to cater to them unlike in previous games.

Reach introduced a lot of new mechanics to which some players had difficulty adjusting, so they dismissed the game as a whole. In my opinion, Reach has its glitches and balance issues, but it is an outstanding game overall. The audio/visual feedback is unparalleled in the series, and the way it works with the basic gun and melee mechanics make it hard to go back to a game like 3. I also loved the increased focus on the pistol in the weapon sandbox, and the focus on single-shot precision weapons.

That is the thing. Talk to the people who have adapted and they even dislike the game. Some of the top 5% in the entire game just play it for many other reasons. So if I play 7,000 games should I not be given the right to complain about how it took a year to make multiplayer playable. I honestly wondered if Bungie ever even tested the multiplayer.

We don't think everything should be competitive, we just think the game should function competitively, and at this point, it doesn't.

It's not necessarily that they hate it, it's the wasted potential and how good it could be.

Simple, most if not 90% of my buddies play the game. So I play it. I'm what you call an "older style gamer" I like to beat things 100% (getting to the last rank) sorta deal. If there is something wrong with that, too bad I guess.

reach has no potential, the engine, maps, and ranking system all suck. the TU fixed almost everything that could be fixed, and it's still barely playable.
