Is Bungie.net's forum layout unique? I'm askin cause most of the time I see this layout on a lot of sites.

In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

Bungie.net has one of the most unique and simple forum layouts I have seen in really any website.

I LOVE HALO! Better than any other game.

But I love Halo 3 and Combat Evolved - never got the chance to play Halo 2 :(

Does it really matter?

I love it's simplicity. It is not overwhelming and I can easily follow the layout.

I,however, can not figure out the special coding for posting links, hyperlinks, etc.

Seriously, I always jack it up.

Ideal Science was the name of a company we contracted (in late 2003) to develop the basic systems that make up the forum software (just the forum software, not the rest of the site). We did this because we didn't have the time or the people to make a new forum as well as get the site ready for Halo 2. We designed it, they just wrote the code. Since that initial development, we have extensively modified it to the point that it would be not really recognizable.

The contract between us and them allowed them to repackage their forum work and sell it as a stand alone product, which they did for a time as "IdealBB.NET". By the time they started selling it though, bungie.net was already using a significantly customized version of that system.

So in short, Bungie.net's forum design is one of a kind.

Yes, although when Ideal Science was selling the software product it would have looked a lot like the early forums did. Now, however, it's so modified it would be hard to come along another forum that looks similar without blatantly copying the design.

I hate the forum layout which seemingly every website uses. I like Bungie's because it is unique, simple, easy on the eyes, and just plain awesome.

So that bulletin design is actually a basic format?

Key

It's been custom built from the ground, up.

Wait, no. Bungie is special. They built it from the sky, down.

Bungie.net's forums were my first interaction with any internet forum or message board, thus, I prefer it.

Bungie's forums are lush. They are simple, easy, sexy and awesome to use. If the forum layout changes loads in the next update then they may as well nuke the enitre site.

Hmm, I wouldn't be the best person to ask as I have no real experience dealing with Ideal Science's "Ideal BB.NET". What I gather though is that that yes it would have been a standard package to buy, whilst BUNGiE used a more complex version that wouldn't have been readily available to the public.

Does that answer what you asked? Or have I answered a different question?

You should read the case study. That will explode your mind.

We should know better, because we are better.

I hate how in other forums you have so many forums and sub forums. There is a section in the Minecraft forums for screenshots, another for mods, another for texture packs, and another for redstone. Why can't they just lump them all into a forum called Player Creations? In Bungie everything is organized in nice big groups.
