But surely it makes sense to make sure your team knows what to do, especially if you want to win. If his friend was the only one he was addressing then why didnt they just stay in party chat
How was he supposed to know OP didn't know where banshee spawn was? That's the easiest callout. Did the OP know where Sniper Spawn Walkway and Shotgun house are?

That's more -blam!- to explain. Before you know it, the match is already over.

He could ask
Or he could cuss him out for being stupid just like he did.

But how does not knowing spawns from a game youve never played make you stupid?

What is a "tryhard" anyway?

Its on of those words were everyone has a different meaning for it. Personally I think a tryhard is someone who tries way too hard to be the best at something and takes it too seriously. Losing a match just won't do, and they will find something else to blame for it. Anyone who plays for some casual fun and doesn't care too much about being competitive is, in their opinion, someone who should be banned from the game, and is everything that is wrong with Halo and in some cases, deserves to die.

It proves that he's too casual for team based games and I wouldn't want him on my team. He should do his research before going online.

But what do you expect him to do? Go and analyse Halo 2 maps just in case there is something similar in a Reach map and people might refer to as that and he might not understand?

The guys shoudlnt have been dicks. The OP didn't know what the callout meant, so they should've just explained to him and then there is one more player with extra knowledge to help him later

So basically... Waypoint is pro-vanilla?

Posted by: Sentox6
Waypoint isn't pro-anything so much as they're just anti-intelligence.

Banshee pad is an amateur Pinnacle callout

When I play to win I voice message people call outs.

So there are pro callouts on Pinnacle

I said it in the sense that Banshee pad is one of the most basic callouts on Pinnacle. If you know nothing else, just understand sniper ramp, blue tower, and banshee pad.

I use callouts because I want to win the game. I don't play with randoms either, so it's perfectly natural. Halo is a game of communication, how can communicating to your team make you a try hard?

B-Boy Disconnect From Area 51 Break Dance crew

RIP Banshee pad. You're just too strong for us now.

Leon > HUNK > Wesker > Ada > Jill > Claire > Chris

I call out to my driver in the warthog/Falcon when I see a guy and he isn't aware of it.

First my reply to the OP is that using teamwork is not being a tryhard. Any good team communicates, if they didn't they would be crushed by any team of similar skill level that did.

Now onto my reply to the quote:

It doesn't exactly sound like he asked in an appropriate tone or manner, he could've done without the cussing seeing as he should have asked it in a friendly/curious way. To me it sounds like he said it sarcastically, or rude if you will, I have no proof of this but one can only speculate on which of them was being the rude one and their reply leads me to believe my assumption is correct.

Also I use callouts and I don't see how you can expect me to explain what all my callouts mean to the entire team before every match, that's ridiculous. If you can't understand my callouts then they aren't meant for you, they are meant for the experienced players who can do something about whatever I'm calling out. Though if I was asked politely about an iffy callout such as said banshee spawn, I would of course explain, as any friendly and social person would.

I intend to live forever, or die trying,

so far, so good.

I still use the Call Out "Enemy on Banshee Spawn" on Pinnacle.

If you played Halo 2, You would know this location. Does not make you idiot if you don't, but that is why this call out is used.
As the Banshee was located at that location in Halo 2.

Call Outs are good, if used correctly. The guy should of pointed out to you why he called it Banshee Spawn, instead of calling you an idiot.

  • 04.16.2012 7:31 PM PDT

Pinnacle is a forged version of the Halo 2 map Ascension. The Banshee spawn callout refers to the part on the map where... the Banshee spawned.

  • 04.17.2012 6:58 AM PDT

Walk by faith. Dude. Not by sight.

Call outs help me die less, win more, and kill more, and I need all the help I can get. Cooperating as a team makes the game more fun.

Tryhard = Someone who rages

Competitive Player = Player who tries to win but can accept losing

Casual = Player who could absolutely not give a -blam- and plays for a good laugh

Under this definition, I am a competitive player. I never rage unless there's cheaters or quiters involved, and even then only rarely, and never out loud.

Oh and OP, there used to be a banshee on that map in Halo 2, back when it was called Ascension. It's the flat platform. Your team had H2 vets. I sometimes use callouts, but for the benefit of the team, not cause I want to look good or something.

  • 04.17.2012 11:29 AM PDT

i mean i think everyone uses callouts especially when youre in a team, they can be as informal as "hey the guy that just killed me is weak/camping" or as elaborate as "the banshee spawn"

Callouts are essential to a good team. It informs you're teammates of where the enemy spawned, where the enemy is, and it helps your teammates clean up kills.

No.

It's like being a jerk doesn't make you a misanthrope.

  • 04.17.2012 1:24 PM PDT

Yes. Anyone using mics to gain an advantage on a game as casual as this is indeed, a tryhard.

  • 04.17.2012 1:28 PM PDT

I'm about as slightly above average as you can get.

I heard that callout once. It was really easy to figure out. Where else would there be a banshee?

I only use semi-callouts when I'm with friends.

While that guy should have realized that not everyone played Halo 2 online (thus, not knowing that the Banshee spawned on Ascension, aka Pinnacle), it wasn't the best idea to say it was a stupid callout, since it makes sense, especially since he was mentioning it to primarily, his party members.

It depends on what I'm playing. IF I'm playing a competitive game I call out but if its not competitive I don't.
